Rep. Vance McAllister, R-Swartz, will run for re-election.
He told NOLA.com/Times-Picayune Monday that he'll leave it up to the voters to decide whether he stays or goes.
He has scheduled a "special press conference" Monday in Monroe to formally announce his decision to run for re-election this fall in the 5th Congressional District.
McAllister said he spent the weekend with his family making sure "they were on board," and that they are. He said he and they decided to leave it up to voters whether "he stays or goes."
After surveillance video from last December was leaked in April showing him kissing a married staffer, McAllister announced he would serve out the remainder of his term but not seek re-election.
Later, McAllister said he reserved the right to change his mind and seek re-election to the seat he won last November after campaigning on a platform of bringing family and Christian values to Washington D.C. The married father of five had support from members of the Duck Dynasty, including Willie Robertson.
Among a long list of candidates who plan to run for the seat is Zach Dasher, the nephew of Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson.

If you care so little about “Negro” politicians such as Cleo Fields, why are you carrying water for him? Liberal Cleo called on liberals to vote for RINO McAllister in the run-off, and you said “yessuh” and proceeded to badmouth the conservative Senator Riser and prop up the liberal McAllister. Oh, and to inject a little more irony into your subservience to Cleo Fields, your stated reason for disliking Riser is that he was endorsed by Governor Bobby Jindal, whose parents were in the U.S. on student visas when he was born, yet Riser (and Jindal) want to protect the border and oppose amnesty while your boy McAllister has spoken out in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens. How you like them apples? And do you take orders from all liberal politicians, or just from Cleo Fields?
As for Senator Vitter having, in the past, cheated on his wife with a prostitute, he asked for and received his wife’s forgiveness, and cheating on his wife was not his only accomplishment in Congress. Did you vote for Democrat Congressman Charlie Melançon in the 2010 Senate race against Vitter? If not, I guess that you didn’t receive Cleo’s e-mail on time.
McAllister was the RINO in that race, Riser is a conservative. I don’t give a damn about caskets or when he filed his papers to run or the fact that the evvvvvil party establishment supported him.
McAllister tricked fools into voting for him be playing the “I’m an outsider” card and milking the endorsement of the Duck reality show people, pathetic. RINO “outsiders” are not better than conservative “insiders”. He won with the support of Black democrats, JUST LIKE THAD!!!!! It’s a shame the rats are less gullible than the “tea party sympathizers” who bought into Vance’s shtick. They never fail to identify and support the most liberal Republican in an R/R race.
And in addition to being a RINO he turns out to be a scumbag. Normally I don’t give the smallest damn about adultery, but this guy slept with the wife of a very close friend, talk about no character. If he’d screw over a friend like that he’d screw over anyone, he can’t be trusted.
I pray a real Republican defeats him. He’ll probably be in a runoff with another Republican and win with rat votes AGAIN.

Speaking as a Louisianan, if either Vitter or Jindal endorsed a candidate in my area, I would never take that as a bad thing. Frankly, I’d be bewildered why. Neither guy is anything close to a RINO. And any universe where Cleo Fields’ opinion is valued more than Vitter/Jindal can only exist in the Twilight Zone.
OK - I skimmed the account of the coffins. I don’t see anything about Riser in the article. What was his involvement - besides being a funeral director?
Now I don’t understand why there is a question about the date of the shipping of the filing papers. Fed Ex should have a record of the date. However, at this point it seems to be a question - not the absolute fact, as you stated it.
Finally, your closing comment about the DC Madame, that at least with McAllister, no one died, is a complete pile of democrat smear. That statement alone casts doubt, in my mind, on everything else you state. It is a low thing to say. Unless you can support a claim that Vitter had something to do with her death. If not, you would be well served to leave such comments unsaid.
It doesn’t look as if there is a great choice here, but you don’t convince me that McAllister is trustworthy or voteworthy.

Rat Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo is running, this will help take democrat votes from McAllister in the primary.
We knew from the get-go that the election would go to a run-off. If the top two vote-getters in the jungle primary are RINO McAllister and a conservative Republican, McAllister will bring out his black liberal boosters again and, if he manages to win again, we’ll have ignorant FReepers celebrating the “Tea Party victory” like they did earlier this year.
