Obama vows to act alone, taunts Republicans ["So sue me"]

President Barack Obama defiantly dared congressional Republicans on Tuesday to try to block his efforts to act on his own and bypass a divided Congress that has thwarted his policy initiatives.

President Barack Obama speaks about transportation and the economy, Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Georgetown Waterfront Park in Washington. Gridlock in Washington will lead to gridlock across the country if lawmakers can’t quickly agree on how to pay for transportation programs, Obama administration officials warn. States will begin to feel the pain of cutbacks within weeks -- peak summer driving time. (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak) "So sue me," he taunted on a sweltering day, as he pushed lawmakers to pay for road and bridge repairs. "I'm not going to apologize for trying to do something."

Obama struck an aggressive tone in the face of a lawsuit threat from House Speaker John Boehner and in the wake of two defeats before the Supreme Court, including a unanimous decision from the court that he overreached when he appointed members of the National Labor Relations Board while the Senate was in recess.

Impeachment proceedings are an exercise in futility.

It did not get rid of the rolling disaster that was the Clinton White House, and probably only set the stain as a permanent mark in the fabric.

And the Republicans got burned badly for the effort, a number of really good men got bulldozed aside in the aftermath.

When the Republicans mounted a field of candidates in 2000, they were given a choice from among Dan Quayle, Gary Bauer, Steve Forbes, Orrin Hatch, Alan Keyes, John McCain, and George Bush. Bush became the overwhelming favorite quickly, and only Alan Keyes stayed in contention until July. It was a matter of choosing the “least bad” from among the crowd, and not on any distinguishing virtue. Dr. Keyes was perhaps the most knowledgeable of the entire bunch, but he was given short shrift very early on, and never gained the momentum he should have had based on his ability and accomplishments.

If Boehner has anything resembling cojones, he publicly states: “ Since this President has shown his utter contempt for the Constitution, Congress and our freedoms, the House will not pass another continuing resolution, nor any budget, nor any debt limit increase, nor any regime-proposed legislation. Any government shutdown is on his head.

When the President stops his present course of action, we can talk.”

Injunctions..... that’s the ticket.

America needs several injunction factories set up in the antirooms of reliable federal judges to promulgate instant injunctions.

I propose a new name for the thief in chief.

How about “Buck” Obama? Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

If Boehner had as least half a set, just for saying that, he would respond in kind.

Barry. The Andrew Jackson constitutional scholar whose motto is “John Marshall has made his decision now let him enforce it”

Not so coincidentally, Andrew Jackson was the first Democrat President.

America took it's first huge lurch away from our Constitutional Republic with him.

He’s really annoyed now! It’s fun to see that. Wonder if the media will run a special on how the big guy has lost it.

He knows his time will be just about up by the time any Boehner lawsuit makes it to SCOTUS.

Odumbo’s time has been “up” for a long time but he hasn’t been notified just yet.

Why does Congress not cut off ALL funding to the odumbo’s, his policies and actions? If he doesn’t have the funding, he’s frozen in his tracks which we all know is LONG OVERDUE!

Agree. Jackson was the first true “populist” president-—and that’s not good. Think “Occupy Wall Street,” for that’s what happened. Like Obama, Jackson abandoned all civility and respect for the office, his followers trashing the White House in a drunken frenzy, so much so that Jackson had to leave his own inauguration party and go eat alone in a nearby inn. His followers within a few years did really bright things like banning all banks in some states, forcing the Cherokee out of Georgia, and enforcing the disastrous “Tariff of Abominations.”

and, I might add - you can also deny the public administrative entities such as Homeland Security, IRS, INS, NLRB and HHS of their funding because the lawless Chief Executive is using the entities as political weapons against his perceived opponents - We the People.

Quit feeding the dog until he's too weak to make trouble.

The House has the means to do the above but not the will under Boehner's leadership.

Help me out Freepers.
I recall a story of President Kennedy when ask why he always combed his hair before exiting AF1.

His reply was “It’s not John Kennedy leaving the plane it’s the President of the United States”

Different mind set.
