Tea Party Favorites Find That Losing Only Widens Their Reach
The New York Times ^ | July 3, 2014 | Jennifer Steinhauer

Mississippi Tea Party dreams were extirpated last week when State Senator Chris McDaniel lost his Republican primary bid to unseat Senator Thad Cochran. Yet if some of Mr. McDaniel’s most outspoken contemporaries are any guide, he may actually have greater political influence as a loser.

Mr. McDaniel made clear this week that he was not giving up the fight, dashing off fund-raising emails declaring Mississippi’s Republican Senate runoff “a sham, plain and simple,” and offering rewards to individuals who “provide evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in voter fraud.”

“Thanks to illegal voting from liberal Democrats, my opponent stole last week’s runoff election,” he wrote.

He was playing to type. Many of the Tea Party movement’s most resonant — or at least loudest — voices these days were themselves Election Day losers who have packed up their ideas about government and elections along with their campaign signs and headed to outside groups, radio programs or their own living rooms in an effort to influence campaigns, often making heaps of trouble for their own party.

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

The mother of this strategy is Sarah Palin, the failed vice-presidential candidate who jettisoned her job as governor of Alaska in favor of a personal bully pulpit and a political action committee to support conservatives candidates, who largely covet her nod....

The RINO party really can't afford having McDaniels rooting around in their dirty laundry. If they don't force Cochran out soon, no telling how many RINO operatives might wind up in the slammer.

McD should run as an Independent in Nov.

In 2008 (with Obama on the ballot and a black Democrat on the ticket), the Rat lost by 280,000 votes against Cochran.

In 2014 with Obama NOT on the ballot, and Cochran a Rat in RINO clothing, McD could pull off a victory.

He cannot do that, that door closed in January. And he cannot do a write-in campaign as that doesn’t work in Mississippi except in very narrow circumstances. His only option now is to get Thad Cochran kicked off as the Republican nominee due to fraud.

...heaps of trouble for their own party.

That jumped out at me, too. GOPe and TP are MILES apart on most issues and virtual enemies on many. Jennifer is terribly ignorant of basic facts. But libs never let reality intrude in their little worlds.

Interesting how the Dems don’t differentiate. They view the RINOs and the TeaParty as the same party and a single enemy, yet the RINOs view the TeaParty as their only enemy and the Dems as their partners.

They are the same party.

The TEApartiers just haven’t kicked out all the RINOs yet.

“Steinhauer - rock breaker”

When I taught intro courses on campus, if I found a name like that in the lecture I would say something like, “stein - something to hold beer, hauer - modern form of haver, so the name means someone who has a beer mug,” deadpan with a straight face. Good students would take notes, bad students never listened anyway.

To the left, the GOPe and the tea party are Vichy and the resistance, respectively. They have to crush the resistance first, then replace today’s Petains with themselves.

McDaniel is not a "loser"! He's fighting the good legal fight and not abandoning constitutional conservatives. This was the ptb "hail Mary" panic after losing to Brat. They've shown there are no holds barred in their lust to keep power.

The Republican Party is OVER if they keep power. The nation will splinter (probably sooner rather than later) and some regions will emerge....smarter, more successful, more independent and more conservative than what DC has done to the nation!
