MOSCOW — A top pro-Russia rebel commander in eastern Ukraine has given a bizarre version of events surrounding the Malaysian jetliner crash — suggesting many of the victims may have died days before the plane took off.
The pro-rebel website Russkaya Vesna on Friday quoted Igor Girkin as saying he was told by people at the crash site that "a significant number of the bodies weren't fresh," adding that he was told they were drained of blood and reeked of decomposition.

To an untrained eye, it could very well seem that way. Remember the reports from Lockerbie, or of TWA 800?
A FReeper was on this as a possibility yesterday.
One or two of the pictures show victims largely intact, untouched by fire and showing little trauma fully clothed on the periphery of the wreckage. These photos were originally available through a simple Yahoo search but have now been removed.
One explanation could be that the perpetrators saw this as an opportunity to dispose of a few bodies that were a result of fighting but to hard to explain as combat deaths. These bodies could certainly match the description of the anomalous bodies in the article .
From my USAF C-130 experience, whenever a squadron lost a plane, missing equipment would mysteriously show up on the downed plane's manifest. It happened more than once. Maybe the bad guys did this with people.

No, there is “randomness” - just like when a tornado strikes a developments and wipes out only every other house on the same side of the street, or seems to skip destroys ten houses in a row and then leaves the next five completely untouched as if there had been no tornado.
I was just hypothesizing a theory to explain that bodies could have been introduced and that would create the appearance reported in the story.
My experience in aircraft accident investigations says if the whole plane hit the ground intact from 30K feet or at military jet speeds, the occupants are universally messed up. Also there is little variance from the effects of a post crash fire.
If the plane landed at a relatively low velocity like it was in a flat spin, then you could be right. Some could have been ejected outside of the burn zone.
Also there was likely a hull breach at altitude and the airplane was breaking up as it fell because there are reports of bodies falling from the skies over a distance of about 9 miles. These bodies showed severe effects from the wind blast associated with that aspect of the event removing most loose clothing items.
There are some odd but not impossible things overall in the whole story here.
