MH17 crash: Rebels load bodies onto refrigerated trains

HRABOVE: Armed rebels forced emergency workers to hand over all 196 bodies recovered from the Malaysia Airlines crash site and then had them loaded onto refrigerated train cars bound for a rebel-held city, Ukrainian officials and monitors said on Sunday....

Nataliya Khuruzhaya, a duty officer at the train station in Torez, 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the crash site, said she saw emergency workers loading plane victims' bodies on Sunday morning into five sealed, refrigerated train cars.

She said the train was scheduled to head to the town of Ilovaysk, 35 kilometers (22 miles) further east toward the Russian border, but no instructions had been given about when it would leave or any possible destinations beyond Ilovaysk.

Russian news agencies said the bodies were heading to the rebel stronghold of Donetsk.

Ukrainian officials say they expect to have the bodies eventually delivered to government-held city of Kharkiv, but it's unclear if the rebels will agree to do so.

Earlier, Ukrainian emergency ministry spokeswoman Nataliya Bystro said recovery workers in the rebel-held territory were forced to give the bodies to the armed gunmen and didn't know where they were going....

The US state department described the rebels' refusal to give monitors a full access to the site "an affront to all those who lost loved ones and to the dignity the victims deserve."

Despite the restrictions seen by journalists and observers at the crash site, separatist leader Alexander Borodai insisted Saturday the rebels have not in any way interfered with the work of observers....

Putin and Merkel agreed on Saturday in a phone call that an independent commission led by the International Civil Aviation Organization should be granted swift access to the crash site.

What's funny about this is that is that this was a decision that Putin and Merkel worked out and as of the day of the shootdown the ICAO was still recognizing that area over Donetsk as a safe fly zone.

There was no immediate word on the bodies of the 102 other plane victims, but Michael Bociurkiw, a spokesman for monitors from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, said some bodies have likely been incinerated without a trace.

The US and NATO should have secured the crash site with special forces and imposed a no-fly-zone over the immediate area. But, our leadership is too feckless to do this.

I am focused. As I focus, what I'm hearing is selective outrage. I'm focused on military weapons ending up with those who are irresponsible with them. Like the Ukranian "special troops" slaughtering civilians at an unarmed checkpoint Easter eve. Where was the rage when people were burned alive in a building or when Pali children were slaughtered playing on a beach? I haven't hear ONE WORD about ISIS this week. And yeah, that is part of being focused.....those ISIS maniacs have weapons the US provided to them.

Everything about the situation is horrible.

If the missile(s) struck the plane where people were sitting, they were blown to bits.

The fire seemed to occur afer impact with the ground. That’s why there were parts of the plane that didn’t burn. The unburned parts blew off the plane as it was intially blown apart & as it was descending.

btw - though there are passengers who contacted the ground in one piece, people on the ground reported body parts all over.

Any airspace is dangerous if the people below you have SAMs and that then means the entire nation of Russia is dangerous.
