PPP's newest North Carolina poll finds Kay Hagan continuing to grow her lead over Thom Tillis as the legislative session drags on. Hagan now has 41% to 34% for Tillis and 8% for Libertarian Sean Haugh. Her lead is up from 2 points in May and 5 points in June.
The protracted legislative session with Tillis at the helm of it can't be doing him any favors. Only 19% of voters approve of the job the General Assembly is doing to 57% who disapprove, and legislative Republicans specifically have a 31/52 favorability rating. Those things are working together to help make Tillis very personally unpopular- only 24% of voters see him favorably to 47% with a negative opinion. Tillis' continued efforts to fundraise while the state budget is in limbo is creating bad optics as well- only 24% of voters think it's appropriate for him to be out there raising money right now to 50% who consider it to be inappropriate.
The news is not all rosy for Hagan. She continues to have negative approval numbers, with only 40% of voters approving of her to 50% who disapprove. And she is very much being propped up right now by the 8% Haugh is receiving, which does not seem likely to hold through until November. When Haugh voters are reallocated to who they would support if they had to pick between Hagan and Tillis, her lead drops to 42-39.
Nevertheless a lack of enthusiasm for Tillis from the Republican base is a big part of the reason so many GOP leaning voters are opting for Haugh at this point. Even among GOP voters only 39% view Tillis favorably to 29% who have a negative opinion, and that's helping to draw 11% of Republicans to the Libertarian at this point.

Thom Tillis is a less-than-stellar candidate and I wish someone else had run. His role as Speaker of an unpopular state legislator isn’t helping matters. That being said, the fact is that an incumbent Senator is polling only 41% of the vote and when they poll that poorly, they tend not to win.
You heard it hear first. The Dems will not only retain the Senate, they will increase their majority slightly.
Because conservatives are rightly pissed at the GOPe and their Chamber of Crony Commerce/illegal alien backers.

The Chamber of Commerce has done the nation a disservice to its members in some ways, especially in safely Republican constituencies.

Thom Tillis is pro amnesty.
December 2012 Tillis:“The other thing we’re going to do is send a very clear message to Washington that they can make our job a lot easier if they would deal with the issue that they’ve kicked down the road – Republicans and Democrats – for many, many years.”
Pat McCrory who went on to endorse Tillis is probably the only anti amnesty governor(Nikki Haley and a bunch of other “Tea Party” governors have backed types of amnesty).

The GOP governor accused High Point area manufacturers of backing a bill McCrory vetoed that allows employers extra time to verify the legal status of a worker. The N.C. General Assembly this week overrode McCrory’s veto from earlier this summer of legislation that extends from three months to nine months the amount of time an employee can draw a paycheck without having his or her legal status cleared though a federal database known as E-Verify.

Tillis said the immigration bill was designed to help alleviate the problems that employers in the state face because of federal immigration procedures and policies.
“The regulatory burden and complexity caused by federal inaction requires us to consider stop-gap measures while we wait for politicians in D.C. to take action,” he said. “This bill received strong bipartisan support and sought to provide clarity to employers and agencies regarding the impact of illegal immigration in North Carolina.”

Hagan voted for the gang of 8 amnesty but that already had 60 votes.
Tillis as speaker pushed for amnesty.
Hagan in 2010, 4 years before she faced the voters again said no to the adorable Dreamers.
Hagan is marginally better on immigration and Karl Rove won’t give Tillis any money to bash Hagan on the gang of 8 bill.

Tester survived. Pryor is doing better than thought. Hagan is leading. Baucus retired in safe Republican state. Nelson retired in safe republican state. Deb Fischer who was strongest on amnesty in the 2012 NE primary was only the net gain for the GOP senate.
The repubs are going to lose NC Senate race. Should be an easy take away.

Hagan is in deep trouble.
NC Republicans had a good opportunity to reject Tillis and wouldn’t. Now they face defeat. Without Helms, NC is lost.

Ever since the vile trick pulled against McDaniel in Mississippi runoff, you can feel the force draining out of the Republican "wave".
The base feels cheated, justifiably. And it is looking for a way to retaliate against the smug bastards at the GOP-e.
For many, the thrill is gone...and there is markedly less enthusiasm about going to the polls.
I don't have a sense of how deep the disgust might run, but the "wave" isn't going to crest nearly as high as it could've had the GOP-e played the Cochran-McDaniel election straight. That's if there is a "wave" at all...
I live in Maine, and I’m pretty sure our conserevative TEA party governor, Paul LePage, is anti-amnesty.
Two days after being sworn into office in January, 2011, Gov. LePage ended Maine’s status as a sanctuary state. He recently ended giving welfare and EBT cards to illegals.
I don’t have a problem with Susan Collins being the Senate candidate. She may also help LePage and Poliquin. It is funny how all these RINOs think amnesty is a good idea. LePage in a tough race decided to put his anti-amnesty rhetoric into overdrive. Democrats who are polling badly are rejecting housing illegals.
I do have a problem with Tillis, Graham, Cochran and others in the south being candidates.
It will be closer in November.
I don’t know why Tillis decided he would spend part of the GOP primary period running as a pro-amnesty candidate when even Burr, Isaakson, Chambliss, McConnell and Cornyn didn’t support the amnesty bill.
It is not like he accidentally passed a weakened immigration. The fiscally liberal governor Pat McCrory vetoed it.

Tillis passed a lot of conservative legislation as Speaker, more than had been passed in the last hundred years, if that’s allowed to rats to make him unpopular, that’s a shame. It’s also a shame people here are more interested in bashing him than that c-word Hagan.
What worries me in NC is the losertarian, he’s polling high, no doubt spurred on by the Ron paul retard brigade who are upset that Brannon was crushed.
