Press Release FAA StatementFAA Lifts Flight Restrictions for Ben Gurion International Airport
The FAA has lifted its restrictions on U.S. airline flights into and out of Israels Ben Gurion Airport by cancelling a Notice to Airmen it renewed earlier today. The cancellation is effective at approximately 11:45 p.m. EDT.
Before making this decision, the FAA worked with its U.S. government counterparts to assess the security situation in Israel and carefully reviewed both significant new information and measures the Government of Israel is taking to mitigate potential risks to civil aviation.
The FAAs primary mission and interest are the protection of people traveling on U.S. airlines. The agency will continue to closely monitor the very fluid situation around Ben Gurion Airport and will take additional actions, as necessary.
The FAA initially instituted the flight prohibition on Tuesday, July 22, in response to a rocket strike that landed approximately one mile from the airport.
Hooray! This is good news!
Good! They got so much flak for their deceitful handling of our best ally in the ME. This administration is the most embarrassing ever.
“When Michael Bloomberg talks, people listen...”
But seriously the heat was getting too much for Obama to bear in an election year and guess who had the cojones to call out the Obama regime specifically on this matter...
“WHEN TED CRUZ TALKS, OBAMA BACKS OFF...”
Obama must be worried about the Jewish vote in the next election cycle.
The thorough review probably consisted of sending an email to McDonough advising what to do since the jig was up and nobody believed the decision was justified.
Proving that this was ALL political and Obama’s way of putting pressure on Israel to stop bombing his BFF Hamas..since it backfired on him he allows flights to go to Israel again..thank you Ted Cruz who got the ball rolling to uncover the REAL story behind this
Yes, it was all politics. Israel was going to open another airport to international flights and their excuse dried up.
Another victory for President Cruz!
Not only Obama & ValJar, the GOP Elite must all be really ticked off.
Not so sure the airlines will be willing to fly into Ben Gurion airport until a verifiable truce takes hold. Hamas may very well have some sophisticated ballistic missiles ready to fire.
I don’t think the jewish vote is in question, but fundraising could be
No further rockets got through, so things stabilized. Let’s hope another rocket doesn’t get through ... or else the ban will be on again. Israel, better, get a couple of Iron Dome batteries around the airport ... :-) ...
Now that will be interesting ... to see whether the foreign airlines do what the FAA says, or whether they act independently of the FAA. Let’s watch that and see.
Cruz just slammed these fools! Take that, cair!
A rocket landed a mile from the airport. Tensions are high. The ban by the FAA was entirely proper. And prudent.
To force the FAA to reverse their decision is an outrage.
hamas’ “win” is short-lived.
It is about damn time we support Israel in SOME way, no matter how small.
Yea for sanity
