Looking like "Chef Jodl" is cooking up some defeat!
NAZI robot tanks? seriously?
That guy from Dallas improved the timing accuracy of grenades... did he get royalties?
lol
friendly fire killed a General... ouch
preserving history is important, even if there is no real $$$ in a lot of it.
Re: Preserving newspapers: How about calling the Archive Department at Auburn’s Library and ask how they do it?

We know this is a labor of love my friend.
And I for one have appreciated it lo these many years. To watch WWII unfold from pre-war to what will soon be the end day by day and to put myself into the chair of the average American reading pretty much the main source of news (radio being the USA Today of the period).
I felt the fear of the impending storm, the uncertainty of a possible loss to 2 enemies hell bent to destroy or enslave us (I suspended the foreknowledge I have and applied where we are with islam today).
The gift you gave given can probably never be repaid. Not just to us but to historians.
Thank you and don’t let an occasional glitch throw you.
You may never know just how huge and important this series has been.
Thank you for the response. After I posted this, I did a bit of research on the net. I just need to buy some acid free paper and acid free boxes to store them in which I found I can buy on Amazon. I did learn that you should never fold papers (as these were) to store them as it aids in the breakdown in the acid in the paper.
What fun to read all of these bits of history!
Sorry for interrupting the thread...
Thank you for the encouraging words. They almost make it worth it putting up with the glitch. Just the same, I am now on guard against a repetition of that particular failure mode.
The Germans have a pocket in their future? Hmmm.
Looks like he's trying to make nice today with a message praising the 77th on Guam.
What struck me about the maps in posts 16 and 18 is just how small an area the remnants of 7th Army have been herded, and how large an area the Americans are now roaming.
I’d like to find the transcripts of Hitler’s daily conferences. When Jodl puts this map in front of Hitler, he has to know that catastrophe is inevitable. What do you tell the guy, who can order you killed, when he talks about winning this battle?
This is the closest thing I’ve been able to find:
http://www.amazon.com/Hitler-His-Generals-Conferences-1942-1945/dp/1929631286
It’s only the transcripts from a few selected dates, and from what I skimmed, the picked Hitler’s crazier rants and not the nuts and bolts discussions.
No wonder some of the German generals started drinking heavily.
What he just did in allowing his army to be cut off in Estonia and Northern Latvia is sheer madness with the Red Army at the gates of Eastern Prussia and Warsaw.
The old guard of the German General Staff must be seething, watching Germany's destruction at the hands of a fool. Might as well drink all the liquor before the end.
“NAZI robot tanks? seriously?”
Based on the description the ‘Robot Tanks’ were most likely these:

The Germans had several other models of remote control tank bombs but only these were about that size and had a radio aerial.
very interesting
