Another thing that suggests a gay date gone bad is that the attack location is just a 15-minute walk towards I.C. from the Oasis Dance Club, that used to be the Common Ground, Ithaca’s top gay bar. These days, as Oasis, the place is still gay-friendly but not at all gay exclusive — I’ve played in bands there over the years and it’s just a regular dance club now. But if the victim was walking back from the club along 96B, towards I.C., it would make a lot of sense...
