Chemical Weapons Revelations in the Middle East
American Thinker ^ | 10-17-2014 | Shoshana Bryen

Two chemical weapons-related stories this week should be considered separate, not necessarily interchangeable, parts of a whole.

The first was that ISIS had used chemical weapons against Kurdish forces in Kobani, raising the question of where ISIS would have acquired such weapons.  The second, in the New York Times, detailed how U.S. forces in Iraq uncovered thousands of shells filled with chemical munitions from various areas of the country following the invasion, and how they were stored and guarded until 2011.

Those disinclined to support the Iraq War, including the Times, International Business Times, and Huffington Post, posit that the chemicals ISIS is said to have used in Kobani are from old Iraqi stocks now under ISIS control.  That would make it “Bush’s fault.”  The NYT story details how the Bush administration hid the finding of chemical munitions and suggests two motives:

...

Which is more likely?  That ISIS is handling pre-1991-era leaky canisters of CW damaged and improperly stored in Iraq, or that it has taken much more modern stockpiles – perhaps new weapons produced in unshuttered facilities in Syria – for use in its destructive sweep through both countries?  The first would indict the Bush administration, the second the Obama administration.

And the NYT could not share this information in 2004, when Bush was going in to stop the use, or threatened use, of chemical-biological-nuclear weapons of mass destruction by Saddam Hussein? The information was surely available then, but we heard NOTHING of it. Not that the Bush Administration was trying to keep a lid on it, or anything, but the so-called “mainstream media” was just not reporting the finds, as that would have been a full justification and vindication of the original reason Bush invaded Iraq.

And Republicans, all Republican administrations, and those hired by Republican administrations (Halliburton), were portrayed as being evil incarnate, and reporting of the discovery of these “weapons of mass destruction” would have been in serious conflict with that narrative.

Of course, the Bush Administration was seriously concerned with getting the good opinion of the world, then, and they seemed to believe that refuting the serious omissions or news reporting would be seen as self-serving. Wouldn’t be prudent, you know. The really serious lapse in judgment, though, was failing to assure the stockpiles had not been destroyed or dismantled to the degree of unserviceability.

Apparently ISIS found them and was making as much practical use as they could.

Sometimes you HAVE to serve yourself, so other people know to whom they should be grateful.

That is the answer for a number of FReepers.

Those of us who watched the satellite images of the convoys leaving Iraq and crossing the Syrian border before the Americans arrived for the Iraqi War.....my guess is Syria had it and ISIS/ISIL found it.

Zero was arming the Muslim Brotherhood to overthrow ASSAD in Syria, and the chemical attack in Syria was NOT from ASSAD against his people, as there were articles and witnesses blaming the ‘so called moderate rebels’....

Destroy a dictator and you have a vacuum. G.W.BUSH made a speech in 2006...clear warning, that is the USA did not leave at least a 20,000 residual force in Iraq when the war was over, that a caliphate would fill the vacuum. What does the man have to do...send out individual letters to every American?? That speech was clear.

The IDIOT is the one who refused to get the troops agreement with Maliki, when Zero held all the cards, and we could have threatened to take away all aid, and the troops would have been protected. Anyone who doubts the loyalty of Bush should look at what resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave now.
