I had to laugh at West's assertion (that) there are prophetic (he must have meant pathetic) Islamic figures who argue for liberties, for tolerance, for equality -- beginning with Malcolm X
There's a whole tradition within Islam that argues for rights, tolerance and equality," West said..
Beginning with Malcolm X?. In a history of brutality and savagery that spans 1400 years, to say that it's only been fifty years since there's been a whole tradition within Islam that argues for rights, tolerance and equality is not saying very much.... Whole tradition?????!!!.
What whole tradition? When? Where?
Secondly, while ISIS follows the "Terrorist Manual" The K-ran, to the letter, to the same degree of savagery and inhumanity as its author, Mad, Malevolent, Mo', there is nothing in the Bible suggesting lynching as being part of any Christian ritual. Lynching is certainly not a Christian ritual to any degree or sort. A ridiculous analogy, if ever there was one.
Islam that argues for rights, tolerance and equality - would violate eh basic tenet of Islam which requires submission to the Islamic system.
No matter who you are.
Christianity demands submission before God. Neither are right or wrong.
the goathumbers do it IN THE NAME OF THEIR RELIGION!
the DEMOCRATS lynched blacks in the name of hatred
I very much disagree with you.
Here’s the difference Corny, I can use the tenets of Christianity to point out the sinfulness of lynching. ISIS is perfectly consistent and faithful to the tenets of islam.
Here’s the stats on lynchings.
http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/shipp/lynchingsstate.html
A quarter of those lynched were white. Eerily, this mimics the current crime statistics of black versus white murder rates (7 : 1).
The totals from Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia are obvious indications of racism, but other places not so much.
This record of 4,743 total lynchings also covers 1882 to 1968 (84 years). ISIS likely dispatched that many in 6 months.
To think that some people will read this crap and lop up every ounce of it...
Jesús said love your enemies. Golden rule. Nuff said. Author is a crackpot.
Yes, a ridiculous analogy.
Muslims believe that Mohammad was perfect, inspired by their god Allah. All Muslims are to be inspired by Mohammed and do as he did. Everything ISIS is doing was also done by Mohammad. Thus, ISIS is a mainstream, majority group, not an isolated fringe.
I 100% agree that ISIS finds justification for rape, kidnapping, and the selling of women for sexual slavery right there in their “holy book”. I have seen the quotations myself. Islam represents conquest by sword or forced conversion. And as soon as the dimmer among us get hip to that, the sooner we can start eradicating the vermin. The Koran is manual written in Hell..
It is exasperating to see that the author seemingly does not understand the difference between "exasperating" and "exacerbating".
(Yes, there is an argument to be made that an archaic usage of 'exasperating' might have a meaning similar to that of 'exacerbating', but that argument would be a losing one.)
It’s easy to pick on colonialism, but nobody really ever considers what the alternative would have been.
Oh wait, that would take honesty....never seen that in a dem yet, black, white or purple polka dotted.
So what is Cornel saying?
Lynching was evil, and ISIS is evil, if we are equating them, right? Is that what he is saying?
We don’t allow lynching anymore. If we are going to draw parallels, then shouldn’t the rest of the Muslim world crush ISIS so that ISIS doesn’t continue their murderous rampages??? Is that what he is trying to say????
This guy is still around?
Where do you get your theology?
Where are the Islamic abolitionists today?
