U.S. soldiers returning from Liberia are being placed in isolation in Vicenza, Italy out of concern for the Ebola virus, CBS News national security correspondent David Martin reports.
The soldiers being monitored include Maj. Gen. Darryl Williams who was the commander of the U.S. Army in Africa but turned over duties to the 101st Airborne Division over the weekend, Martin reports. There are currently 11 soldiers in isolation.
They apparently were met by Carabinieri in full hazmat suits. If the policy remains in effect, everyone returning from Liberia - several hundred - will be placed in isolation for 21 days. Thirty are expected in today, Martin reports.

Raysisum and civil rights have been violated! FREE EBOLA!
PING!
“Military in quarantine while whining CDC nurse gets out of quarantine.”
Why the double standard?
Because Obola thinks the CDC health workers are so much smarter than our military?
Me? I'da been more inclined to to quarantine on Ascension Island, rather than continental Europe.
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Some are more equal than others.
Knowing past actions of the US in Italy....I doubt if they mentioned it, and it’ll drag out some conversations over the next month. The Italians will tell them to process them onto the US.
As for the three-week thing...you basically are paying GI’s to sit around some bungalow or hut, sipping beer, watching ESPN and avoiding anyone else on the post/base. The support people? Makes me wonder....do they get their own chowhall or does the base order out for everything?
Because in his very odd logic, health care workers mustn’t be quarantined upon return, because it will discourage other healthcare workers to volunteer to go to Africa to help fight Ebola.
And of course, the only way to stop Ebola is to fight it in Africa. If a few hundred/ thousand Americans get infected, who cares?
The biggest flaw in this reasoning is that there is no way to accurately predict how many Americans could be exposed. And the treatment that is being given to American Ebola patients currently would not be doable if there were thousands of patients at one time.
I understand you can get some pretty good Italian food there...
Good, the military gets it.
Now if Obola would just stop pestering the governors of NY and NJ for doing the jobs that Kenyans don’t want to do.
Actually, if I was one of these soldiers, I’d finish out my enlistment and leave that part of my life behind.
Because military personnel tend to vote conservative.
The reason that the military wants a quarantine on its own personnel is that it correctly doesn’t want to take the risk of a major outbreak spreading through the US armed forces. That truly would be a national security issue.
I understand that point, but they never should have went there in the first place, IMHO.
Vicenza is where the 173rd Airborne are located.

Of course....Obama will not complain about our military folks going into forced quarantine......but...he and his Obamabot low lifes at the CDC and NIH are kissing his butt...while us peons could become exposed to EBOLA because Obama would rather play politics then protect the American people!!! Go figure!!!
Folks, American voters, all...vote to destroy the entire Democrat Party, politically on election day....Tuesday, November 4, 2014!!!
