NBC Nightly News Broadcasts Critical Story About Common Core

Until recently the mainstream media has portrayed the opponents of Common Core to be just a bunch of conservative yahoos incapable of understanding what a wonderful education program it is. However that might now be changing. Last night, NBC Nightly News surprisingly broadcast a segment highly critical of Common Core.

The segment showed just how confusing and lacking in common sense common core is. Although it portrayed teachers as mostly satisfied with the program while parents were distressed, it is hard to imagine any how any sane person can see the utility of Common Core which as you will see reaches simple solutions via a series of confusing steps. The video showing a simple subtraction problem is below but be warned: just watching the absolutely unnecessary Common Core multi-step complexity added to it can give the viewer a throbbing headache:

In my lifetime, first MSM outlet to report the truth ever.

That makes 2 of us, PJ. I'd still be using my fingers and toes to get the answers.

Good, common core introduces unnecessary complexity into math, reading and science. It’s a really, really stupid idea.

CC is being exposed in less than flattering terms in math only, from what I’ve seen.

However, the rest of the curriculum is even more diabolical as it shapes the minds of our young to reject America and traditional American values in favor of the NWO. Critical thinking is an absolute no-no; discouraged at every turn. Collectivism and ‘feelings’ are promoted ‘for the greater good’.

It is actually the final leg of the planned takeover of our children's minds. It is in every subject, however it is best recognized in math and science. When it is in the more social classes it is harder to recognize. But the result is the same to the child, he learns no good moral lessons, nothing to uplift his soul. The goal is to confuse the kids to the point where they will one day fall for any socialist waiting in the wings.

Throughout the school day a child can get to the point where he wants to scratch his eyeballs out. Ever wonder why some kids take a gun to school and start shooting? After a few years of amoral lessons, kids who are secretly troubled, will react. And the result is chaos. The lessons are so well hidden that no one knows, even the teachers.

Even here on FR there is at least one apologist (agent?) for Common Core. It took no effort at all to disprove his claim for one specific example that it was easier, or quicker, or that it even made any sense at all.

Seems competition among states and local school districts would achieve better results. The federal government needs to get out of the business.

My first grader had his first trouble with Common Core lunacy today. I will use the hardest problem from his homework as an example.

9+9=

Break up one of those nines such that you have another number that when added to nine makes ten. A first grader who has not memorized addition facts then has to think of all the ways you can add two numbers to get nine.

(8+1)+9=

Now regroup

8+(1+9)=

8+10=18

Do you know how difficult this is to teach a six year old who is learning addition facts? I wish I had a photo I could post of the lesson. It is worse than what I have written out. It uses pictures and does not use parentheses. The pictures make it more confusing. I tried using objects for counting and regrouping. It didn’t help because you have to use subtraction in order to answer a simple addition problem.

This was homework. There were about ten problems which required algebraic thinking from a first grader. My son scribbled on the page, erased the scribbles, wrote the wrong answer, erased it, scribbled, threw his pencil, put his head in my lap, erased his scribbles, etc. until we eventually completed his first grade algebra homework. He was so happy to write his spelling words over and over again. Why do they want children to hate math??? I cannot imagine other parents being able to teach this nonsense to their children.

I’m 100% with you on this. My favorite subject has always been math and I excelled at it at all levels. My daughters 12 and 9 also love it...HOWEVER whoever the Alice in wonderland shroom junkie was that developed this utter garbage should have their mind scrambled with and ice pic then fed to the dogs fast enough they can still witness it...Ok that was a bit harsh...but I agree this is not math...is junk science like global warming.

I look at Common Core as sad for this country, but a GREAT OPPORTUNITY for parents and kids if they play their cards right.

Step 1: You, THE PARENT, get it, THE PARENT, not the teacher, not the principal, not the minister, no THE PARENT. Do you understand me, THE PARENT (I know you’re busy planning your next cocktail party, but step up and do your job). Make damn sure your kid learns how to do math CORRECTLY.

Step 2: Don’t worry about it. Now your kid has the tools to do math problems quickly and correctly. Common Core then becomes a game to them...they get to play with numbers, understanding that it is simply the result of too many “Education Majors” having too much time on their hands. Your kid can play the games too...and then check his work and get it right when he needs to (such as for standardized tests), and get it wrong when he needs to...such as when in public school.

Because Math is the Last thing which can actually make children Logical and use Reason as adults. They ruined English, Wisdom, Virtue and writing and spelling and Rhetoric decades ago-—and have children hating to read by 6th or 7th grade to keep them dumb for Life.

Math (which they tried to dumb down but parents and teachers didn’t allow the total collapse of Logic and Reason in New Math) still kept a few smart enough to pull themselves out of the mire and understand Truth or maybe get them interested in some worthwhile pursuits which would lead to gaining Knowledge and see through the brainwashing white noise.

They need the children so dumb they will believe that Snow is Black. Fichte explained how to destroy Free Will and condition children so they become “happy slaves” in 1810 or so using psychology.

When Math is totally confusing, then the children will be totally lost since English is sabotaged also....and they will know they are dumb and ignorant....that is what is being programmed into your child’s head.....”math is too hard and I am dumb”.

They are also sexualizing your child (with Common Core), to destroy innocence and injecting an anti-Christian worldview. It will flip their worldview from Christian Ethics which formed the USA and Individualism and Natural Rights-—to a collectivization and pagan, Satanic (muslim) unnatural worldview-—where sodomy and polygamy and pederasty are “normal” and ‘good”.

For collectives-—they have to destroy God and Individualism and Virtue in children-—and make them believe they are dumb.

Get your child OUT of public school.
