WASHINGTON New Mexico's Senate race suddenly is on the radar screen, as new polls show the Republican candidate within single digits of incumbent Democratic Sen. Tom Udall.
Most political observers had written off the contest as a slam dunk for Democrats. But a pair of new polls shows the race tightening in the final days.

A new Vox Populi poll shows Udall up only 4 points over Republican Allen Weh. The poll puts Udall at 47 percent and Weh at 43 percent, with 11 percent of voters undecided.
The deteriorating national political environment for Democrats and President Obama has put Senate races like New Mexico at risk for Democrats, pollster Brent Seaborn said in a statement.
The poll also showed voters in New Mexico are motivated by the economy and jobs, with concerns over ObamaCare coming in second.
Another poll conducted by the Albuquerque Journal shows Udalls lead narrowing as well. In that poll, Udall was backed by 50 percent of likely voters and Weh by 43 percent. A similar poll conducted in mid-September had Udall with a 13-point advantage in the race, with 51 percent backing Udall and 38 percent leaning Wehs way.

Would love to see the R win this one!
Three months ago, it was a Democratic win, period. I would presently guess that Udall will still win but it’ll be a three-point margin. Not the 12-point margin figured three months ago. And if Udall loses...it really says volumes over the President’s affect in the whole national picture.
Weh’s latest ad touting his combat service and Udall’s draft dodging is resonating!
I hope Web gets an influx of money.
In 1994 newt nationalized the election to the republicans advantage. This time around obama has natioalized the election to the republicans advantage.
............
on new Mexico...take a look at the number of undecideds
.....11 percent of voters undecided.
That’s huge.
Traditional wisdom has it that undecideds this late in the game break against against the incumbent.
There’s other races like this. Like in Virginia where 10% of the electorate are still undecided. They’re not going to break for the incumbent democrat Warner this late in the game.
The only thing that stops this election from being a tsunami against the dems is the illegal and fraud vote which could be considerable.
Wishful thinkers should be SLAPPED.. and their eyes poked..
How great it ‘d be to sweep both Udall’s out of office on Tuesday! Interesting poll results from “Vox Populi” don’t show up on RealClearPolitics, yet numbers from an obscure Alaska outfit called “Ivan Moore,” showing a sudden 6-point lead for Mark Begich, do.
Maybe voters are catching on that Udall is the ringleader of the Dem scheme to drastically alter the First Amendment .
Would love to see the Bobbsey Cousins, Stifle Your Speech and Stifle Your Infant, go down in flames together on Saint Elizabeth eve.
I’m not buying any polls and my confidence level isn’t anywhere near as high as Drudge Headlines portray..
PARTY LOSSES ‘COULD BE HISTORIC’
I would say that they polled the same ‘Republicans’ that won the Mississippi Senate Primary for Thad Cochran.
Don't get too excited. If it is close the dems will ensure that Vote Fraud and vote machine rigging will swing it their way.
Man, I gotta do one of those for tonight!!
Udall’s family bad night...what a wonderful thought...
The polls are a little mystifying. One would think that if a relatively safe Dem seat like New Mexico were truly in play, then we would be enjoying significant leads in places like Louisiana, Georgia, and the like.
Conversely, one would think that with so many races where Republicans should be favored running so tight, that places like New Mexico would be entirely out of reach.
The current situation in New Mexico (and Virginia, and New Hampshire) suggest a very big win for the Republicans in the Senate. On the order of 10 seats. But the closeness of other races suggests a more modest win, even a struggle to take back the Senate.
Can we sell registered Democrats to araab slavers? Or is that over the edge?
He is a good candidate, I heard him on Levin the other day.
