Tea party favorite to head Dallas think tank (LTC Allen West)
The Dallas Morning News ^ | November 7, 2014 | Jim Landers

Tea party favorite Allen B. West was named Friday to be the new CEO of the National Center for Policy Analysis, a Dallas think tank that has focused on market-based solutions for health care and tax and fiscal policy.

West, 53, is a former Republican congressman from Florida and a retired Army lieutenant colonel. He is expected to boost donations to the think tank, which sagged after the forced departure of founding CEO John Goodman in June.

Since leaving Congress in 2013, West has been a commentator on Fox News, a blogger and a fundraiser for conservative veteran and minority candidates. In his latest blog, West questioned whether the Obama administration allowed in young immigrants who brought enterovirus-68.

“What if the Obama administration policy of allowing an influx of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants into America this summer and subsequently dispersing them was ... in effect a form of biological warfare?”(continued)

Good for him, but I’d rather he was in elected office again. He is one of the few politicians I ever contributed my time and money to.

Add Colonel West to my list of ‘crushes.’ I read his blog posts regularly. Such common sense. Such a fine Patriot. :)

All the Best to Col. West. I hope he maintains a high profile and widens and deepens his following at the national level with his new job.

My read is that he is WAY too smart to run for president.

I happened to catch this on local talk radio Friday morning on my way home from work; apparently he has family throughout the DFW area, his last stateside post was Ft. Hood, and he plans on moving to DFW when his kids graduate high school.

IIRC he was being interviewed by Mark Davis.

Allen West is the one man who I would consider to be the ideal president. To me, he would rate right up there with Washington. An honorable and patriotic leader, dedicated to his country. The Republic desperately needs a man like him at this point in her history.

Of course, it's just my humble opinion, but all other likely candidates pale in comparison.

Guess where he will be: Cruz/Palin territory.

Yehaw!

I love West. And North :)

He did say he was running for “something” in 2016, and many assumed it was Marco Rubio’s empty senate seat. Maybe the colonel is getting some fund-raising connections

Except there really aren’t any more competitive blue seats after Galego went down. How many RINOs still around in TX? Pete Sessions?

You know, I haven’t actually checked. I judge our current direction on what our new Governor Abbott says. Constitutionally, the Gov is weaker than the Lt. Gov, but that’s not true in reality anymore now that Straus is weakened and Blue Austin has a blood-red body politic moving in.

He might need to spend some time here first. But who knows? Time will tell.
