I also hope and believe that he has seen the light on the illegal immigrant issue <<
You hope and believe wrongly:
a href="http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3206399/posts
9/21/2014 - Governor Rick Perry reaffirmed his support of allowing illegal immigrant students to pay in-state tuition at Texas colleges and universities, while U.S. citizens from other states continue to pay higher out-of-state tuition rates.

amassed a record of success as an executive in Texas which stacks up well against pretty much anyone else in the nationYou are clueless about Texas politics. The Texas governor is the LEAST powerful in the nation. He can't pardon anyone without permission of a board.
About all he can do is sign passed legislation and cheer-lead.

Slick Rick is the opposite of Ted Cruz

Well then, the GOP is doomed. Not that we didn’t already know that....

I used to believe in the regional balance on the ticket thing, but it hasn't really worked in about 40 years.
Mitt Romney (MA) Paul Ryan (WI) Al Gore (2000)(TN) Lloyd Bentsen (TX) John Edwards (NC) Jack Kemp (NY) Paul Ryan (WI) Ferraro (NY)
The others were in states that the ticket would have won anyway (Cheney/WY, Quayle/IN, Lieberman/CT, Biden/DE, Mondale/MN, Palin/AK, Dole/KS, Bush the Elder/TX)
Clinton/Gore did win TN in both 1992 and 1996, but there was no ticket balancing, as Clinton was from Arkansas next door. Plus, in neither case was a majority won, as Perot was on the ticket in those years.

Why nominate a governor if government is the problem?
To: Cincinatus' Wife
Amen......
Then there is also governor Kasich. Cavuto gave him free reign today and he took advantage of the time. he’s not to shabby and has fantastic fiscal knowledge
meantime...... go Rick!

I like Rick Perry but I have read that the big Texas donors are holding off until they see if Jeb is going to run. That’s who they really want. Sickening but not unexpected.

The same liberal Rick that advocated for teenage girls (my daughters at the time) to get vaccinated for an STD?
The same liberal Rick that wanted the Trans-Texas corridor to be owned by a Spanish company?
The same liberal Rick that pushed for in-state tuition for illegals?
That Rick? He can go home. I damn sure won't vote for him in the primary or the general election.

Ted Cruz.
We pull this routine every time, and all we get is bleed off and a lost cause for it, winding up with the biggest RINO possible.
Folks, I’ll vote for Ted Cruz. You put another idiot in there and good luck. I won’t be joining you in November.
We know what we need. Now lets get behind him.
I won’t be getting behind Rick Perry.
