Men, Made of Sterner Stuff
Orignal Content | 1/7/2015 | By Laz A. Mataz

The smoke has cleared, and John Boehner, the neo-progressive Obama-enabler, has retained his House Speaker position.

Despite a clear and unequivocal message sent by many millions of Americans and conservatives, the dissenters in the House who would have removed Boehner numbered only twenty-five -- twenty-five men and women of conviction, out of two-hundred thirty-six. That is a mere 10.5% of the total Republicans seated in 2015.

The reseating of Boehner, who I now call the Crying Cheeto (due to his weepiness and odd orange skin color), guarantees an agenda of appeasement of Democrats, a failure to rein in an out-of-control Barack Obama, and an agenda favoring the Chamber of Communism. The COC agenda consists largely of deflating American wages by turning a blind eye to massive illegal immigration, and by importing technical and skilled workers from low-wage third-world hellholes.

There will be no serious challenge of Obamacare, which is poised to strangle American small businesses, and impose harsh mandates and financial penalties on a populace already under severe wage pressure -- even though Americans have electorally removed half of the Senators who voted for that Obamacare.

There will be an acceleration in the 'normalization' of illegal immigrants, which will permanently change the character of the American electorate to one that favors increasing socialism, and even outright communism.

There will be no attempt to rein in an overreaching Environmental Protection Agency, whose bureaucratic edicts border on insanity.

There will be no desire to investigate and punish the many dozens of Obama scandals, including the weaponization of the IRS, the internal spying on journalists who report negative stories on the administration, and the importation of illegal firearms into the neighboring nation of Mexico.

There is a story that emerged last night: Representative Louie Gohmert related that many of the people who were successfully recruited to oppose the Obama-sycophant Boehner, backed out at the last moment, and did so without warning. It occurs to me that they did so for their own selfish reasons. They were afraid of retaliation. They were scared they might lose committee memberships, or not get new ones. They decided that their own personal interests were more important than representing the people they serve. Polls showed clearly that they were being directed to remove Boehner. No matter to them, they voted for their selfish personal gain.

It staggers the cogent observer: Small-minded and petty personal concerns bested the 'principles' of approximately 90% of the Republican membership.

This mirrors the percentage of the affiliation of American citizens, preceding the Revolutionary War. Ten percent were for the Crown, ten percent were for Independence, and eighty percent had little concern either way.

But do we not elect people who are supposed to be more principled than the common citizenry? Apparently we did not.

If we think back to the Founding Fathers, they risked much more than losing a choice committee membership. They risked their lives. They risked their families. They risked their personal fortunes, and even though the Revolution was successful, many of them still died broke.

These Founders, these men, were made of sterner stuff. Now, we have men and women who can be cowed by the threat of the loss of minor privileges.

I sometimes observe that soft times -- times of abundance and plenty -- breed soft men. We have bred a crop of weak, unprincipled representatives. Their elections and their actions guarantee that we shall enter much tougher times. The bright spot of this situation is that, as things go south -- and they will -- that in about a generation, perhaps we'll have a more moral, hardworking, principled citizenry.

Perhaps we will be made of sterner stuff.

Perhaps we will deserve the freedom that we will have to fight for, again. We have squandered the Founders sacrifices. Someday, we shall need to make our own.

From which a reasonable man may conclude that approximately 90% of the Republican members have no principles, and are in fact small-minded and petty politicians. Statesmen they are not.

Exactly on-point with the editorial.

Note that I have removed the term ‘establishment’ from the GOP-e. It is not the Establishment that is the problem, any more. It is the newly-elected so-called “principled conservatives” that are every bit the same problem as the old entrenched progressive Republicans.

We looked in the mirror, and saw that the RINO was us. The only good Republican is a former Republican.

Agreed.

It used to be said that you cannot take a well of pure water, dump a bucket of feces into it, and expect the water to be drinkable.

Now, we have the reverse situation: We have a well filled with pure feces, and we are trying to make it drinkable by dumping a bucket of pure water into it.

A lot of the criticism of Boehner is based on reports of what he is GOING TO do, reported in the biased MSM, and a lot of THAT is basically wishful thinking by said MSM. I mean, what has he actually done, really?

That's a small sample. Perhaps you need more?

The first item on your list is an example of what Bohner is ‘going to do’.

Pray for me, as a school board director, I've begun to use biting words against common core and other matters in our local high school, and I'm about to challenge the superintendent herself .... I want her to define her purpose ... I already know what her job is

It seems to me she re-educates incoming new teachers to an agenda she desires, using the state laws to validate this aim and end, and I .. quite frankly think she's a commy embed and I want to start a fight.

Can't be more honest than that

You stated our condition well. We either fight back through the states, or give up, which is not an option.

Oh, yes, so the one item of ‘what Boehner is going to do’ CLEARLY discounts the list of seven solid examples of ‘what Boehner has already done’. LOL

I completely decimated your assertion with those seven examples.

I will pray for you.!

As a parent, I have challenged the school board agenda ( Planned Parenthood) and, by God’s grace, won a lasting victory.

Kudos to you for taking on Common Core!

God Bless!

Just two observations:

1. The turncoats, who backed out, didn’t do so to protect committee assignments alone. No, their reelection is even more valuable than that.

Boner only had to threaten their would be no help and maybe outright opposition from RNCC, Rove, et al.

That means:

No money or money working against you.

No advisors and putting you on an island with no support, logistics and deep ties in local races that would be instrumental in their continued seat.

Putting up candidates to directly weaken you next time around.

2nd
Ahhh, I forgot what my second point was.

Damnit.

Great observation Laz.
