Can he possibly be that stupid?
As another FReeper put it so eloquently yesterday; “this is all about revenue.”
It’s time City Hall got back to backing the NYPD.
I can’t remember the date but it was at least 20 years ago. There was a labor dispute between NY’s cops and the city. The cops wanted a raise. The city responded it didn’t have the money. For the next week the city was practically paralyzed as the cops wrote millions of dollars worth of tickets. The police negotiator said, “There’s the money, where’s our raise?” Since then I’ve had a new understanding of policing and what it’s really for, revenue. I found it almost impossible to watch cop TV shows after that.
I read someplace where NYPD brass cancelled all vacations until the Blue Flu dies down...
If you have a job, work it, otherwise quit, don’t just keep sucking at the trough
“Bratton says he still doesnt know the root causes”
Really? I suggest Brtton’s days are numbered for no other reason than he is suffering from dimentia.
Would that have been under the Dinkins regime?
Here come the Brown Shirts! Watch out America, they are about to implement the next phase of total Government Control.
"Tolerant and compassionate" De Blobbio's getting downright nasty: dictating cops use QUOTAS.....ordered a summons catch-up blitz.......
......plus some cops have been barred from taking vacation and sick days........
I lived in Houston for 35 years. Every time the city elects a Republican mayor the police start writing tickets left and right. When Lanier was elected some years back the city actually had to put on temporary judges to handle all the traffic court cases. When there is a Democrat in office however, you practically have to taunt the police to get them to cite you.
“Would that have been under the Dinkins regime?”
1990-1993. Sounds about right. I couldn’t find an article on it online. But I recall I was getting my news at the time from the newspaper. If there was an internet it didn’t include me.
One woulddl think it should be the other way around.
But then again, follow the money...
Not stupid, politically correct. He knows he’s waaaay out on a limb with the rank and file. He doesn’t care. He stopped being a cop a long time ago, and decided to throw his lot in with the Democrat jackals. May he be doubly damned for it too.
More likely he'll stay b/c he's suffering from greed.
Bratton got $132 million upfront from De Blobbio; the wire transfers are going 24/7. Now, if Bratton plays nice, DeBlobbio will sign off on a cushy no-bid deal for Bratton's former business partner. (That whining sound you hear is Bratton saying: "What's my cut?")
Bratton's gotta stay all puckered up, on his knees sucking up to Blabbio, bashing cops to salve DeBlob's massive ego.
It will be a cold day in hell before an NYPD ever rousts a street peddler again.
The sidewalks of NY are open for business. Loosies, whatever.
He reports to his boss. If he wants to keep his job he will have to grovel, lie, and cover up.
If he had any decency, he would quit and go to a city where his efforts would be appreciated. And make less money.
Bratton should resign in disgrace.
I have read that New York City has +- 35,000 cops. I wonder how many of that 35,000 have filed applications with other police departments. I know the county I live in has a lot of deputies that made lateral moves here to get out of the sewers they had to work in.
