Gays and lesbians could get licenses to marry in more than half of Alabama's counties Friday after a federal judge affirmed her ruling striking down the state's same-sex marriage ban.

More than a dozen counties reversed course Friday and began issuing the licenses to same-sex couples in the wake Thursday's strongly worded order from U.S. District Judge Callie Granade. By mid-day Friday, at least 35 of the state's 67 counties were complying.

Considering that this is an ABC news source, I’d be very careful about believing any of this.

A Federal Judge should have no say in this! It’s a State’s Rights issue!

How does a judge “affirm her own ruling”?

Isn’t that a little bit like a convict ruling that he’s innocent? Who cares if a convict says he’s innocent? Of course he’s going to say he’s innocent.

A judge stamping her foot doesn’t make her any more right than before she threw her tantrum.

Romans 1:..
22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.

Note also that Romans 1:32 points out that those who approve of such conduct are just as guilty as those who engage in it.

Which is why I asked any Alabama FReepers to report on what's actually happening.

If I were these judges I’d say until both Obama and Holder are in the slammer for contempt of court, the federal courts can go suck a lemon. If Obama can get away with totally ignoring judges’ orders, then why should anybody else obey them?

Especially since the Tenth Amendment has never been repealed. This judge has no leg to stand on.

Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God - Benjamin Franklin.

It is way past time to simply refuse to comply with tyrants and their imposed tyranny.

Let them come to enforce it, and reveal the true teeth of the beast that will soon sink it’s teeth in us all, and force the tyranny we now willingly endure to be seen for what it truly is.

Do not comply. Defy. Resist.

Defiance of tyranny is what is now our duty. Wickedness imposed by decree is no “law” any Christian has to comply with. In fact, you have a duty before God and His Christ to eschew such evil and refuse to submit to such Godless evil.

“after a federal judge affirmed her ruling”

As Justice Moore explained, she has no authority to make that ruling, so her affirming it again is meaningless. She only has authority to enforce rulings against those who are parties to the case before her.

How does a judge “affirm her own ruling”?

The initial ruling was in a lawsuit brought against the State AG. Judge Roy Moore of the Alabama Supreme Court told the state's probate judges (who actually hand out licenses) that they didn't have to comply because they weren't parties to the suit (although the full Alabama Supreme Court then declined to back up Moore's order). The plaintiffs then added the Probate Judge of Mobile County to the suit, and the judge specifically ordered him to issue licenses to same-sex couples. She also made it clear that she would issue the same order against any other probate judge who didn't comply.

U.S. District Judge Callie Granade is a G.W. Bush appointee.

It’s gotta be countered politically (by voting) and legally (by winning our own court cases) ... and then Constitutionally (by an Amendment overruling the U.S. Supreme Court).

That’s the only way it’s going to happen. OTHERWISE ... get used to it!

Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God - Benjamin Franklin.

Thomas Jefferson, actually. But the sentiment is still appropriate.

There are thousands, if not millions of U.S. citizens, non college grads, who would be better presidents than the current resident of the white hut.
