Medication is neither a cause or excuse for violent actions.
Wouldn't surprise me to learn that the boy is homosexual, his parents found out about it and one or more of his parents blew their top.
There is a middle ground of consideration here, in which misuse of drugs can further unbalance an unbalanced mind. The key word is misuse. The drugs do not just leap on the person they effect, they are either chosen by that person or by someone else treating that person.

Nonsense. Antidepressants permanently change brain chemistry and have been long cited in acts of uncontrolled rage, extreme cruelty and suicidal depression. Read up on it, there's plenty of info available on this subject.
You've never seen someone have Serotonin Syndrome have you? I have. It happened to my wife. She didn't become violent but beat herself black and blue and had to be restrained.
Medications can do it namely antidepressants. In an adverse reaction it can be as potent as LSD. The person can become psychotic and have hallucinations. In body chemistry the Serotonin which approximately 98% belongs in the stomach migrates to the brain and sets off the adverse reaction.
What ought to scare you is the fact many doctors writing the scripts for them are often unaware this can happen. The most common trigger to it from what I've read is persons taking OTC NyQuil while on an antidepressant. It's not tin foil kookery there are some very reputable sites with info on it.
If there was an abrupt change in behavior from his long time norm I would look for any recent medication changes especially antidepressants. Sad to say many doctors don't. The onset of an adverse reaction could have triggered the behavior to have gotten the computer taken away.
I bet you though the Serotonin levels in the brain aren't checked in the autopsy.

Pretty definitive statement for someone who hasn't delved into the real effects of many of the drugs being dispensed today.
Having done a little research on this topic, what I have found is that— so far as I can tell— every child and adult who have shot up a school, business, etc., were either currently on some psychotropic drug, or had only recently been taken off. Two of the three gentlemen who “discovered” ADHD have stated they made it up, and that it is a fictitious disease. The problem with school kids isn’t ADHD, it’s simply lack of discipline and direction. Drugs like Ritalin and Prozac are dangerous for adults, but for kids it’s worse, as their brains are undergoing the changes associated with growth, rendering the effects of these drugs highly volatile. That’s where the real problem lies... failing academic standards, failure to properly discipline, often a failure of proper parenting at home, and prescription drugs.
