Oh, they’ll definitely remain Islamic nutcases, but first of all, taking away the land means killing most of them, and since they are tied to the land and therefore can be located (unlike AQ), they should be much easier to destroy.

I'm not surprised to find it in The Atlantic. They are always literately written, usually in depth, and often, though hardly a majority of the time, have authors who chase the truth rather than their own biases. The articles they print by those authors are very worthwhile.
I’ve read it now, it’s excellent. The author pulls no punches at all. I certainly hope Valerie Jarret reads this soon.

You’re making distinction without a difference. The lie about the Englished acronym for the DAESH is that the S stands for Syria, which makes it sound to the naive as if their claim is limited to the modern states of Iraq and Syria. It stands for al-Sham, which means the Levant. The preference for correctly Englishing the name before making an acronym of it shown by the State Department and Obama administration does not encourage their ambition, merely makes it slightly clearer to anyone paying attention.
(By they way, call them the DAESH or DAISH — I see no reason why Muslim terrorist organizations should have their name Englished before being turned into an acryonym. It’s the FARC, not the RAFC, ETA not BHF, the PKK not the KWP, so it’s the DAESH not ISIS or ISIL. Besides pronounced correctly, the Arabic acronym is a slur against them, sounding a bit like two different Arabic words, one of which means “to trample or crush”, the other of which means “felon”.)

Yes, that seems to make more sense. But the govts may feel unsure of their ability to keep them out should they seek to return.

The article was very good. This whole caliphate thing was a joke to me at first, but the article points out how important it is to them and now that they have land, it's Muslims 'religious duty' to join up now. The longer we wait, the more land they will acquire and the Muslims worldwide will join up.

Yes, the graphic says it all...and I still think the guy is so crazy he believes he’s the new leader of all Muslims.
Maybe the thing that will bring him down is that the Muslims don’t seem to think so. And his wife, who refused to dress in Islamic garb on their last trip to Muslimlandia, is obviously not on board with this because she’s having too much fun spending money and traveling to want to end up wearing a cloth garbage bag while Barak goes and hangs out with the - er, boys. Literally, since pederasty is a big part of the rich Islamic male’s sex life. And sex and violence are what Islam is all about.
