I think Dr. Carson was at least partially right. The wife of the mayor of New York is a case in point.

There might be a predisposition to “gayness”, but activating that is still a matter of consciously-chosen action.

Doesn’t matter....1 or 2% of the population is an aberration and NOT normal.

I’m willing to concede they were ‘born that way’ if they’ll concede it’s a potentially treatable genetic defect, like retardation.

” Instead, Savage fell back on his trademark vulgarity, telling Dr. Carson to “suck my d-—.” “If being gay is a choice, prove it,” wrote Savage. “Choose it. Choose to be gay yourself.” “

Suicide is a choice Savage, just like being queer. You can prove it now by choosing suicide. Choose it now!

RE :”Last week, Dr. Ben Carson stepped onto a political mine — really, jumped onto it with both feet — when he answered a question from CNN’s Chris Cuomo about the nature of homosexuality. “You think being gay is a choice?” Cuomo asked Carson, after Carson rightly stated that being black and being gay are two very different phenomena. “Absolutely,” replied Carson. He then went on to explain, “A lot of people who go into prison straight go into prison straight — and when they come out, they're gay.’

Then he soon repudiated his own words and apologized for them, a perfect illustration why this battle has been lost, only one side came ready to fight..

Their argument: ‘We must marry the same sex to each other because gays can’t control their feelings’ | 3/10/2015 |

"Is homosexual inclination a choice." To that, the answer is obviously no -- it is either a byproduct of biology or environment.

To say that is to say we are all simply animals, who can not understand our urges or their consequences, or to say that we are not capable of making ourselves into more advanced human beings.

You open the “Pandora’s Box” to anyone, especially the youth and naive. And you certainly can plant that seed of evil. Disguised as pleasure. It can warp anyone’s mind if they are not conscience enough in their own mind to fight or resist it.

I tend to listen to my conscience. If I feel “guilt” at all... I don’t go down that road.

I believe it is a choice.

Now, those who are transgendered or have hormonal issues. That is a different story. And I do not know enough about the science behind that, to make a good educated guess.

But I do know about evil. And how it works and warps the minds of weak minded people!

A high percentage of men engage in homosex while in prison. The vast majority of them go back to women when they are released.

They don’t (mostly) “become gay” due to their prison time.

There is very limited evidence as to how many inmates engage in homosex. It’s probably somewhere between 20% and 60%.

If being homosexual is genetic, then so is being a college basketball player.

There’s a gene for tallness.

In our current culture, tallness is predictor of being a college basketball player.

However, it is not a DETERMINATIVE connection as is the gene for black skin/melanin. It is only an associative connection.

My daughter’s best friend from childhood chose to have a boyfriend. Then she chose to have a girlfriend. She recently chose to have a boyfriend again. So obviously its not a choice.

Yes, one can choose to be happy, cheerful, joyful, celebratory. Or queer homosexual, for that matter!

HOMOSEXUAL, because there's nothing GAY about it.

Meredith Baxter decided in her 60’s that she’s gay. Bob Tur, the photographer, said on TMZ that before his “sex change” to be a “woman” that he was never attracted to men. After hormone treatment he became attracted to men. When Bob (his name change escapes me and I don’t want to google it) made that point, Harvey skipped over it pretty quickly and didn’t ask any questions. Does that mean homosexuality can be cured?

Because humans have a wide variety of natural emotions, desires and thoughts, it is worthless to ask if a particular sexual attraction is a matter of choice or not. Who chooses what emotions and desires they will have? The better question is: of all the emotions and desires a person might have, which are moral to entertain and which are immoral and must be rejected?

Asking if having gay feelings is a choice dodges that question entirely. We are told, if a person feels something, it must be natural. What if a person feels he should murder or abuse someone else? A person with normal thoughts knows to reject any hatred that rises to the level of wanting to hurt or kill someone else. Why is it any different with sexual feelings? I think only because too many people want to excuse the moral implications of sexuality.

But I think it is deeper than that. God clearly tells humanity what His rules of sexual morality are. He clearly states in several places such as Revelation 22:15 that those who are sexually immoral cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. So, I think that some people use sexual expression as a way of rejecting God and His moral laws.

“Gay” is not something you ARE. It is something you DO. You may not be able to choose what you ARE. But you can choose what you DO.

Dr Carson is probably right. In my 70+ years I have seen apparently straight guys "go gay" but must add they returned to straight in few years. I have a suspicion that the first sexual experience has a major role in determining whether an individual will be straight or gay for life.

Philosophically, I believe "Gay" is mostly a lifestyle and people who are, stay that way in comfort with themselves.

I think we all ought to let it go....and stop trying to make each other feel bad.

Thank you Dr. Carson. You are a brave soul.

And those who say we do ought to perform oral sex on us.

Here is an example of the excessive meanness in this horrible and unnecessary debate.

If homosexual behavior is chosen, why would one the best looking males in Hollyweird (Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter etal) choose males over women? As a heterosexual man, I've never seen any male that looked as sexually attractive as a woman. Or ever seen a male that looked sexually attractive period.

I noticed this attraction to females at an early age before I even learned about the facts of life. Why would I then choose a male?

I've heard some men say for the right amount of money they'd do it. But these same men admitted without the monetary inducement (or threat of violence), they wouldn't do it. For obvious reasons...they were not sexually attracted to other males. Homosexuality is not chosen...it's from birth.

If a married man gets caught having multiple affairs and says to his wife, “Honey, I was born that way. That’s just the way I am wired,” does the wife say he cannot help it?

When straight men marry, they’re still ATTRACTED to other women. It’s just that they don’t act upon it if they use good judgment and have morals. They have to say no to their ATTRACTIONS.

I believe much of homosexuality is related to ATTRACTION (perverted). We all have to at times overcome attraction.

A Christian is born again of the spirit. And the spirit needs to rule over the flesh. Christians need to try to overcome their desires of the flesh (including inappropriate attractions).
