MY HEAD is exploding! I am done with this organization! They are fighting against a Convention of States. The very thing that is number one thing on my list of things to support. Captain Cynic and I have supported and volunteered for NAGR. This is more than the end of that support.

One by one, our Constitutional safety valves are being dismantled, and as each one is mocked or ignored, we take another step toward an explosion of civil war.

There two seeming facts on which I linger. 1) An Article V convention has never been held, and thus explanations of how things would go in such cannot possibly be put down to “don’t worry about it, and 2) given the state of the evil and deviousness of the opposition and their insane ability to throw vast sums of money at any obstacle they encounter, doesn’t not give me the warm fuzzies with regard to such a convention’s outcome.

Were there only two choices between one of these and complete revolution, I’d choose the latter. IOW, I don’t trust any organized group any more.

I’ve come to support the constitutional convention not because it will succeed but because it will fail and through that spectacular failure States will finally have the opportunity to break free from this doomed union. There is no incremental fixing of the the mess in DC especially with the kinds of worthless GOP pretending to take the lead there. We need an independent Stats of America. We can keep some of the conveniences of travel and trade but the Central government needs to go.

If only the Founders were as smart and trustworthy as today’s politicians, then we wouldn’t have all the problems we see nowadays.”

Literally the opposite of what the CoS people are saying. What they are actually saying is:

“Thank God the founders were smart enough to allow us to alter the Constitution to undo damage done to it by later generations.”

More of the same JBS propaganda. They can’t come up with anything new, so they repeat. Ad infinitum.

It really sickens me when someone who claims to be a conservative is so focused on one single issue. It's like the pack of idiots (myself included) that allowed ourselves to be pulled along by the nose by Grover Norquist because he was the official voice of lower taxes.

How did that all work out for us?

This guy is afraid of runaway convention!

There will be safeguards against that sort of things such as keeping the politicians out of it, limit it to what issues will be looked at and changes if needed. Term Limits.

And add some things to keep somebody like Obama and the like totally out of our government.

Your gun group may be kept out of it due to your attitude.

When the first thing in an article is to give a concept a dirty name 'Con-Con' I'm wary. This is a constitution option, just because its never be used doesn't mean anything.

The real problem it that officials are exceeding the authority and congress is not cutting the money off. If a CoS will correct this I'm for it.

“demanding a state-initiated Article V Constitutional Convention.

I’ve ignored the Constitutional Convention con (more aptly named “Con-Con”) job until now — “

Dear Author,

You are talking about 2 completely seperate things. Get your head out of your a$$ and do some damn research.

Suppose everything goes perfectly. At best we have a new constitution that the government will ignore, just as they ignore the one now. At worst, the people involved are compromised by the statists, and we end up with the Statist wet-dream codified into the very fabric of our Constitution.

Anybody who has not extensively examined the history behind LE Intelligence and political activism shouldn’t be near these decisions.

New York had a sitting Governor (Patterson) who held a press conference in which he announced that the heads of his state PD surveillance division walked into his office, revealed they had bugged and wiretapped him throughout his tenure as a state legislator, and unless he became a puppet governor, with someone else wielding power from behind the scenes they would ruin him, using affairs he and his wife had that they had documented. He later said he had ten other legislators tell him they were blanketed under coverage too, and it was a huge problem for any legislator that needed to be dealt with.

The media gave it a few paragraphs of coverage, before announcing other officials in the State PD said it was probably just a few rogue individuals running an off the books surveillance op, and not interesting at all. The media never mentioned it again. The Attorney General who was assigned to investigate it ignored it, and when the next election came around the Attorney general walked into the Governor’s office, and his predecessor quietly disappeared.

We’ve seen federal surveillance actually plant classified documents on Sharyl Atkisson’s computer, using an illegally installed, extra Fios line at her house. If things are that far gone, and you think a small change to the Constitution will remedy it, you’re smoking crack, and taking a hell of a risk with the only thing we have left to support our argument for freedom.

I recently began looking into the NAGR & Dudley Brown. I was also amazed at the organization's strong opposition to an Article V Convention. There is no real connection between an Convention of the States and the Second Amendment. And it is absurd to think that a Convention of the States would be convened to overturn the Bill of Rights or the Second Amendment. I also recently ran across a quote from Dudley Brown that shocked me, His statement was on another political issue unrelated to the Second Amendment. You will have to forgive me because I do not recall that quote now; however, I had the same type of reaction that you are having. You would not find a more ardent supporter of the Second Amendment than me. I am a lifetime member of the Gun Owners of America and I would recommend that you explore their website and then decide about joining our organization in order to support the Second Amendment. I hope that that helps you.
