ECHO LAKE, Calif. – California Gov. Jerry Brown has ordered state officials to impose mandatory water restrictions for the first time in history as the state grapples with a serious drought.

In an executive order issued Wednesday, Brown ordered the state water board to implement reductions in cities and towns to cut usage by 25 percent.

Wait, wasn’t he thrown out of office early years ago?

You may be thinking of three of his appointments to the CA Supreme court, including Chief Justice Rose Bird, who were recalled back in the 70s after they overturned the death penalty.

“Most folks think desalinization would break the bank. Israel proves it doesn’t.”

Yes they did, but does Israel have” The Stealing Class “ that we have ?

Shower 2-2.5 gallons per minute. Old shower heads use as much as 4 gallons per minute.

Has anyone ever done a study to find out if the newer, low flow showerheads actually save water? All mine does is waste time, since it takes me longer to rinse the shampoo out of my hair.

All of CA’s illegals are using up a lot of water. Deport them and US citizens won’t have to sacrifice AGAIN.

We use many, many times more water to grow alfalfa that's exported to China than illegals consume. A quarter of the water use in California goes to just two crops, almonds and alfalfa, both of which are mainly exported overseas. Overall, 80% of water use goes to irrigation. Of what's left, most goes to landscape watering--golf courses a big chunk of it. Only about 8% of water use goes to household use--toilets, showers, etc.

If it weren’t so damn sad that this state has one of the most incompetent governments in the Western Hemisphere, I’d laugh.

I live in the Antelope Valley (high desert) and just yesterday as I was driving through my residential area, one of the homeowners was irrigating their new grass lawn to get it to seed...

I, on the other hand am looking at DG and desert landscaping for the front yard (small and the only place I have grass) and artificial turf for the back yard...

I hate maintaining a lawn, the sprinkler system and lawnmower...the water savings is just a bonus.

365 days in a year X 3 billion = 1.095 TRILLION gallons of water a year.

So, all the illegals in America use a little less water than California's almond farmers.

Small nation/large nation, “absorb the costs?

Israel is a Middle Eastern nation with it’s own peoples and needs, and in America it would be individual states or cities deciding how many, if any, desalination plants they want.

To be so obsessed with Israel is not very persuasive in selling a water rate increase to me for instance, until the time is right.

The market seems to be making it’s own decisions on each individual plant, as it is, we already have 100s of plants either doing salt water, or brackish water, it isn’t like our states are unaware of desalination, which seems to be something that some here think.

Yep. I remember a few years ago seeing an ad by some corporation showing how “green” they are, featuring some eco-nut rhapsodizing about how warm and fuzzy he feels when he sees a dam being breached to “restore a wild river”, and shouting at my TV, “Just wait until the next drought, you moron!”.

Desalination IS the answer for California, but not for 2015 or 2016.

It takes a lot of planning and money and time to build a desalination plant. California democrat leadership and lawmakers have been focusing on choo-choos instead.

No water? God is getting pissed, drought is a tough punishment. Not sure if even God's finger is on this country anymore, lots of believers but all seem to be cowards. Now with the "reprobates" running the show, it will only get worse and with the amount of hatred out there for Christians and the Jews worldwide, it is going to get ugly.

Did you notice how our POTUS never commented on the genocide of Christians taking place in Iraq and Syria? These Christian communities have been around since the first century church, now they are all gone, never to return.

‘________since it takes me longer to rinse the shampoo out of my hair.’

Ditto having low flush toilets - often flush twice to accomplish the job - - -

(Your ‘about’ info) What a timely read of your truck exploits. I want a truck (cab back) for my next ‘auto.’ Where do you put the groceries/any items, if all the rear seats are occupied?
I need something that displays intimidation and high visibility to others on the road, and in parking lots. Vroooom! Along with my ‘lack of height,’ my white-bread, conservative, four door sedan is not cutting it, with the mind-set of current-day drivers.
At the same time, I have had this conservative (new at the time) auto since 1 week before 9-11-01, and have not had ONE days trouble with it! It has been HIGHLY dependable - must be a huge fluke, and I lucked out purchasing it!

Rose Bird, Cruz Reynoso and Maurice Grodin were not recalled. They were denied reconfirmation by the voters in 1986, which is a different process from recall.

Our idiot governor and his cohorts in the legislature have ignored California’s water supply problem for many years. Rally, the only answer is to desalinize sea water. Although it is still an expensive process, it works and would meet our needs.

Instead, Brown and company have pushed through a multi-billion dollar boondoggle high speed rail system known as the train to nowhere. All the while, the state has been heading for a water supply disaster.
