Simple answer: (1) they are cowards; and (2) it would confuse the narrative. The narrative is that conservative Christians are bigots and haters, and putting Muslims into the equation would put a supposedly threatened minority on the side of the bigots and haters. It might provoke a more nuanced discussion, it might mute the hysteria, and that is not tolerable, so it won’t be allowed to happen.

From time to time, muslims have anti-gay outbursts here and there. But that's a smokescreen. Islam is a thoroughly gay religion and homosexuality in moslem countries is part of the culture the way baklava and turkish coffee is.

Queers don't go after muslims because under the external show, muslims approve of homosexuality and practice it enthusiastically.

Homos go after Christians, because Christians actually disapprove of the gay lifestyle. Disapproval is, in their thinking, an unforgivable crime that deserves the harshest punishment.
