North Charleston, S.C. A white police officer in South Carolina is charged with murder after a bystander recorded video of him shooting and killing an apparently unarmed black man in the back as he ran way from the scene of a traffic stop.
The New York Times posted the video Tuesday. It is disturbing. (Scroll down to see video.)
Officer Michael T. Slager, 33, claimed he feared for his life because the man took a stun gun during a scuffle Saturday, but the video does not confirm that.
The video shows Slager firing eight times and shooting Walter L. Scott, 50, in the back as Scott loped away across a grassy lot.
Scott was driving a Mercedes-Benz and had been stopped by Slager for a broken tail light, according to police reports cited in the Times story.
At the time, Scott was wanted for arrest on a Family Court warrant, Charleston County sheriffs Maj. Eric Watson said Tuesday. (Source: The Post and Courier)
The police reports said Slager fired his Taser at Scott, and Scott turned to run away from the guns electrical current, which could be seen extending from his body.
Local coverage went back to their regular programming after they saw nothing close to interesting to report. They said that social media had over 200 RSVPs of people saying they were going to attend, but didn’t show up. Maybe some saw that there wasn’t much of a crowd to hide in.
When forensics shows multiple gunshots in the back, cops do get charged. It is tough to explain why you needed to shoot someone multiple times in the back to save your life.
Honestly if I saw that taser coming at me I would run also. It would be involuntary. I can’t even imagine getting tasered.
Good. But, CNN will, of course, be trotting out the race hustlers for a couple of days.
“solution..... dont run”
Or what, the cops have a license to murder you?
I guess STOP or I’ll shoot no longer holds up.
Oh of course. Police never do wrong. How silly of those on this thread who thought it was an execution. And the cop moving the taser to the body was just tidying up.
The NAACP will hold a presser at 11:00 AM tomorrow from downtown Charleston so the MSM can’t really gear that part up until they get their marching orders from the Revrund Jackson. He’ll most likely be there as he got his start in Charleston.
And here I thought the sarcasm was obvious - oh well.
The one he dropped by the dead guy?
This cop is going down
no way out of this one.
Not the first time Slager had a report of excessive force, but of course his partner backed him up and the complaint came to nothing.
I dont believe I give a damn what you clowns think.

I believe that is a very healthy stance. It is an anonymous internet forum after all.
The only difference between us is that I know I don’t give a damn what you (as you put it) clowns think.
Not really. Son of the janitor where my wife worked was shot in the back multiple times and died while fleeing a traffic stop (turns out he had some weed on him) and he was only a passenger. Was ruled a good shoot BECAUSE nobody was there with a video camera to show the truth.
Someone CAN be shot in the back and still be a valid shot, particularly in a car that is fleeing and endangering others. But by itself, bullet holes in the back are frowned upon...
Here’s where stuff like the Trayvon and Michael Brown cases have really managed to muddy the waters.
Wouldn’t it just be dumb luck that right about now otherwise-sympathetic folks are going to start to say, this is the gang that cried wolf?
Thanks, KL.
s, ping....
I didn’t fully explain - he was fleeing on foot
Just saying that cases that seem to have merit like this one will see less practical benefit from NAACP support than they otherwise could, because of the mindless baying about Trayvon and Michael Brown that has gone before and hurt their credibility.
It is to be sad. When outraged, still check your facts. Outrage needs more than a ginned up story to be something that isn’t counterproductive.
