The Associated Press currently has a photo for sale at its APimages.com site showing a graphic of a gun pointing at Ted Cruz's head. It has been there since early Saturday evening.
It would appear that Charlie Neibergall, the person who snapped this photograph, had to patiently wait for the "right" moment to take the photo in question.

It seems worth asking, given that he submitted the photo just before 7:00 p.m. on Saturday (apparently Eastern Time), over 11 hours after the photo was taken at 7:47 a.m., if Niebergall waited to submit the photo until after all the adults, assuming any remain at AP, went home for the rest of the weekend.
I can't wait to see a similar photo involving leftist Democratic Party 2016 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, who perhaps to many readers' surprise, has to a fair extent been a supporter of Second Amendment rights.
There may be a silver lining in this. It's hard to be sure, but based on this images search at Bing.com at 11:40 p.m. ET Sunday evening, there is little evidence that subscribing AP outlets have posted the photo at their sites.

I seriously doubt I’ll be voting Cruz, but seriously guys?
Common respect and decency went out the window a long time ago for the left and right. But mostly just the left.
Was there a photo credit? I know the next time I hear about some photojournalist over in the middle east getting shot I don’t want to fret about the wrong person.
The fact is most journalists are self-promoting self-aggrandizing sensationalist misery ghouls. Couple that with their liberal bias and hatred towards conservatives and Christians and what you have are nothing more than picture and word assassins.
I bet if someone photoshopped the image and inserted some other persons image over Cruz there would be hell to pay.
Having worked in the business I can tell you...yea, you got a good grasp on a large swath of them. Here’s what you probably suspect:
Most of them are very low intelligence. They may have a degree but a J school degree today is on the same level as a Lesbian studies degree. They are hired for their willingness to do what they are told.
Now to be sure, they have agendas. that’s why most got the gig to begin with. And more often than not, they share the publisher/editor’s belief structure because THOSE people are the same as the reporter.
I cannot POSSIBLY emphasize this enough. If a reporter tells you water is wet, stick your head in the river to confirm it because there is a better than average possibility that science invented dry water and the reporter is lying about it in their story.
Fast forward decades later and the newsettes on TV are having to say Nyshjeer. All to keep them from screwing up and accidentally uttering the dreaded N-Word.

The AP Style guide is perhaps a work of fiction on par with Lord of the Rings. Very little in either relates to reality, Most reporters aren’t remotely familiar with it much less up to date with the daily changes and it wouldn’t matter if they were since it exists solely to provide excuses for management of any given publication.
We used to make a game out of pointing out it’s contradictions.
I have seen the photo and it appears to be wishful thinking on the AP’s part. It is no wonder that some people call the AP Associated with terrorists — instead of Associated Press. These people are from the devil as is their spiritual leader, Saul Alinsky.
It’s acceptable when liberals do it, because it’s expected of them.

I seriously doubt I'll be voting for anyone except Cruz. One or two exceptions, maybe.
Definitely a Hate-Crime by the publisher, against Ted Cruz. The double standard will result in no charges against the publisher though.
That is deliberate and intentional, with full knowledge and awareness. They knew what they were doing.
If they deny it, they are lying.
