The embattled Miss USA beauty pageant will be available as a live stream on July 12 now that NBC and Univision have dropped out as TV partners.
A rep for the pageant confirmed that the three-hour event will be available for viewing via MissUniverse.com/MissUSA. The live stream is a last-ditch effort to salvage viewership of the pageant, set to take place in Baton Rouge, La.
More details of the streaming plan will be “forthcoming,” according to the rep. Pageant producers will need to recruit a new host or co-hosts after two NBC-affliated personalities, Cheryl Burke and MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts, withdrew from their roles as co-host.
The drama for the Miss USA telecast began last week when Univision scrapped its planned telecast on the heels of disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants made by Donald Trump. Trump co-owns the Miss USA/Miss Universe franchise with NBC.
On Tuesday, Trump filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univision.
Haven’t watched it in at least 20 years. Don’t have cable.
I guess it’s my patriotic duty then to watch pretty girls for an hour or two. Tough gig, but someone’s gotta do it.

Quite frankly, am amazed these still exist. Been decades since I’ve watched ‘em.
Old media taking more effort to make itself irrelevant. Whatever their motivation for dropping the show, doing so isn’t going to increase or retain viewership; it will, however, make even more people aware of “streaming” as an option, and discover there’s other good stuff via that too.
not sure I’ve ever watched more than 10 minutes. I’ll make sure I live stream it to give them another “viewer”. I may not watch but it’ll be streaming.

What about all the sponsors that have paid for spots on NBC/Univision? I wonder if they are ticked at NBC or on the PC train?

The last time I remember the whole show from start to finish...my dad and I were visiting relatives deep in the heart of Alabama, and we all sat around a TV in the living (probably twelve folks) watching the festive occasion. That’s been roughly forty-five years ago.

i’m betting that’s what is going to happen. People are absolutely sick-to-freakin’ death of illegals swarming into this country. had no interest until the latest spat- that said no way I’ll turn away an opportunity to give liberals, the liberal establishment and liberal media the middle finger..
I remember being a pubescent male in a three-channel universe and waiting all year for the chance to watch 50 pretty girls in bathing suits.
Now kids have porn streaming to their phones 24/7.
