After being fired for writing what’s been described as an “anti-gay” book, former Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran says he “absolutely” wants his job back.
“In the United States of America, Americans should not have to choose between keeping your job and living out your faith,” Cochran told The Daily Signal in an exclusive interview. “And that’s the position the city of Atlanta actually has taken—that I have to have a choice to live out my faith or to keep my job.”
Cochran was fired in January 2015 for publishing a men’s devotional book for a Baptist church group. In the book, “Who Told You That You Were Naked?” Cochran addressed issues of homosexuality, gay marriage and premarital sex from a biblical perspective.

Oh, this is going to be delightful. Kevin Cochran is black. So Atlanta will have to make a choice between a black and a gay.

History is repeating itself again! All Christians want to do is live their lives according to their faith and that faith isn’t confined to just Sunday mornings.
most of the early colonies were founded by people fleeing their home countries because of religious persecution. Now, Christians are being persecuted, but with nowhere left to go.
I bought his book just to support him. It doesnt hurt that he is right.
Ask them if Christians also have a right to their life style choice.
Use their own PC language against them. Where's the Christian tolerance? What about diversity? Inclusiveness?
They made these rules - USE THEM. Force them to argue against their own propaganda.
I never knew you could be fired for having your own opinion about something in the USA. The only countries before that this would happen were Nazi Germany, North Korea, Iran and maybe the Soviet Union years ago. Today we are becoming the Fascist states of America

The undesirables must be identified and removed. They stink and are a blot on our progressive society. But, let’s do it legally. Then in the name of law, we can mark them, shut down their businesses, force them out of work, pack them up and ship them off to the camps so we don’t have to see them, and where work will set them free.
They don’t exist. What happens to them in the camps is irrelevant; as long as our progressive brave new world does not have to see them or acknowledge their existence or non-existence.
I believe the crux of the matter is that the gentleman's employment contract with the City of Atlanta required pre-approval by the city of any material that was going to be published.

He should be demanding that EVERY person who wrote anything even remotely Anti-Christian, at ANY point I n their life ALSO be fired since we seem to be firing people for having opinions now-
Christians should be organized with lawyers and protestors to stand up with this guy. They should be visiting churches all over the Atlanta area to inform the Christians what happened to him. He’s being persecuted for being a Christian.

Try this (apologies for being Amish). The city maintains they have a right to approve, the Chief claims discrimination against his beliefs which to me is obvious. The case actually carries more significance now given the resent SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage.

I'm unclear on what you mean by that.A: No, because the city does not have a policy requiring the mayor’s approval before city employees may publish a book. And if the city did, it would violate city employees’ free speech rights. The First Amendment is the only permission slip Kelvin Cochran needed to write and self-publish a non-work-related book on his own time. People don’t lose their right to free speech just because they work for the government.
