The vote to re-fund Planned Parenthood has to do with giving the JEBublicans cover on a huge story that the GOPe has managed to keep buried for seven years:

George W Bush funded Planned Parenthood to the tune of $2.2 Billion Dollars during his eight year tenure.

A few years later, Karen Handel, the Palin endorsee, got a job with Susan G Komen, where she found out in a most shocking manner Karl Rove was calling the shots with Planned Parenthood.

This lines up with H.W. Bush (and Barbara’s) long time pro-choice stand — just one more thing that Reagan detested in his V.P.

And, of course, it lines up with the fact Prescott Bush was on board of the original Planned Parenthood in the ‘40’s and was friends with Margaret Sanger.

(This was around the time he was wooing a young, broke Richard Nixon as his political patron. Incredible to think the Bush dynasty was behind Nixon, isn’t it? But it’s true. Weird how so many things went south for Dicky when he declined to have H.W. as his VP, but instead sent him to China.)

I think this vote to keep funding PP is political cover for JEB!

And as for Ted Cruz (a long time Bushie himself who should have known very well the Bush administration was funding PP) — why is everything he does so “lone wolfish” and therefore, impotent?

Though I appreciate Cruz’s “color commentary” today (acknowledging we have a Uniparty in D.C. and that the whole “left/right” thing is a hoax) — narrating these events for us is not Cruz’s job. Being an effective Senator is Cruz’s job.

Ya’d think he’d have figured out a winning tactic by now...

This treachery by the GOP leadership in both houses is the final straw for me, I won't vote for a candidate of either party if there is an acceptable independent candidate running for the same office. If there is no other acceptable candidate I just won't vote. No other party or independent candidate could be any worse than the current leadership of both houses who are nothing less than treacherous outright liars disguised as Republicans.

My first term congressman seems to be OK so far, but if he goes along with Boehner's treachery for the sake of party loyalty he's off my list of acceptable candidates.

I really think that Ann Coulter’s “Treason” book is playing out again. We have both parties in long standing, that pass control back and forth and accomplish nothing but lead us farther down the path of distruction. It seems to me that McConnell, Boehner, Reid, Pelosi are all on the same team and just point fingers at each other. I think they are all communists and sitting up there laughing at the idiots that keep electing them.

They had better be funding an island for the GOP elite to reside on a few hundred miles off the coast. Their days living large, walking among us here on the mainland are numbered.

We are pissed.

Actually, Reagan signed a bill as Governor of California that ended up causing abortions to skyrocket. He regretted it but it happened. So, give us some Reagan quotes where he "detested" his VP:

just one more thing that Reagan detested in his V.P.

60 votes are needed to defund Planned Parenthood, and nothing in congress is sitting alone on any bill where it would be an easy no strings attached vote. Voting down PP could just as easily mean you are also voting down supplies for the troops the way bills are written. What else was on the bill? And is there any reason to believe that 60 votes were available and a bunch of democrats were ready to defect?

Yes so true. I think 2016 is going to be a very bad year for Republicrats. I have no intention of voting for Johnny the Uber RINO Isakson who is up for re-election next year. I’m sorry to say I was right all along about David Perdue who I finally reluctantly pulled the lever for last year. Never again. He’s quickly shown he votes with Mitch.

Looking at the legislation that has been passed since last Fall I cannot see a difference from when the Dems were in charge. Sad.

Is that you Karl? Digging up the old Reagan/abortion story?

Yes, Governor Reagan was suckered into signing that bill; he said as much. It was 1967, well before Roe, and well before the modern “pro choice” talking points had been created. But that doesn't mitigate George W Bush funding Planned Parenthood for eight years, while tricking conservatives into believing he was pro-life.

If you weren't aware of the pressure put on Reagan to put H.W. on the ticket (which I doubt) do a little homework; the coldness between the Reagan and the Bushes is legendary. Gorbachev even told of how Bush slammed his boss (and conservatives) after Reykjavik http://www.rawstory.com/2009/10/gorbachev-bush-reagan-extreme/

The Reagan vs Bush rift even explains JEB’s desire to retire the Reagan legacy on his “listening tour” in 2009 http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2243151/posts)

Just called Cornyn's office in North Texas.

1. The staffer said she had never heard of Breitbart.com or Andrew Breitbart.

2. She denied the story, saying that Cornyn had voted against the use of the "nuclear option". I had quite a debate with her over this issue. She claimed that Cornyn was being consistent in his opposition to the nuclear option.

I reminded her that it was Harry Reid who first used this, and that if the Dems gained control of the Senate they would use it again.

Cornyn is a liar and a cheat. He could not care less about representing Texas and prefers to be a simpering lackey for the globalists.

Not this Kentuckian! I haven’t voted for my Republican congress thing since 2010. Hal Rogers and Mitch McWeasal are bought and paid for by the Chamber of Crony Commerce and haven’t represented Kentucky in decades. But we had to have them or the world would end according to the GOP groupies on free republic. They would vote for Ted Kennedy rotting corpse if the GOPE dug him up and ran it with an (R) in front of it’s name. Yes they are that willing to sell out for their beloved Party.

We need to go back to having the senate selected by the more-accountable (every two years) house members...

Corrupt and traitorous.

You suk Cornyn.

The reason the voice vote is significant is because McConnell, especially, and his Whip Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX)59% , purposefully launched what appears to be an unprecedented effort to duck accountability for their votes—and the votes of every other GOP member who joined with them in supporting Obama’s Iran deal and funding for Planned Parenthood.

Yup. And 99% of the folks out there, hell, even a lot of folks on this site don't understand this kind of parliamentary procedure, how voice votes work, and other stuff like this. They use this ignorance against us.
