Cortana is a sexy spy in the machine
Turn on Cortana, the virtual assistant, and youre also turning on a whole host of data sharing:
To enable Cortana to provide personalized experiences and relevant suggestions, Microsoft collects and uses various types of data, such as your device location, data from your calendar, the apps you use, data from your emails and text messages, who you call, your contacts and how often you interact with them on your device.
Cortana also learns about you by collecting data about how you use your device and other Microsoft services, such as your music, alarm settings, whether the lock screen is on, what you view and purchase, your browse and Bing search history, and more.
Lots of things can live in those two words and more. Also note that because Cortana analyzes speech data, Microsoft collects your voice input, as well as your name and nickname, your recent calendar events and the names of people in your appointments, and information about your contacts including names and nicknames.
We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to protect our customers or enforce the terms governing the use of the services.

They have been doing this for a long time.
It is right in the TERMS AND CONDITIONS that most people never read....
I must say, I haven’t found Cortana to be very useful.
Hey, I liked that guy! But I like graphics. windows help really stinks (only used up to 7). Keyword search was for geeks only. I’m delaying getting 10 and may not. I’ll wait till lots of people here say they like it.
Haven't seen it in any of the Linux apps I use.
Clippy was executed by Bill Gates..................
I installed W10 yesterday. You are given the option of supplying MS with the above information. I chose not to do so. Done and done.
I guess go Linux for Internet use and windoze for necessary applications.
I scheduled mine a few days out. Seeing this post makes me glad I did. Odds are I would have opted out of something like that anyway.
IIRC, BG married that guy’s project director.
Oh, THAT’s not happening.
LOL I’m not surprised. He is smart but spooky.
Here's the pic of his lifeless body immediately after the execution.......................
Microsoft is pure evil! People should wake up and dump it.
I like the part about analyzing your speech to parse out contact names and bigoted (homophobic, etc.) statements you make. Some day, these very statements will be used against you (e.g. next time you try to purchase a weapon, get child custody, etc.).
