The Democrats’ Socialist Surge
Wall Street Journal ^ | August 12, 2015 | JASON L. RILEY

Posted on 08/12/2015 6:28:54 AM PDT by reaganaut1

People who follow politics probably know that Bernie Sanders, the U.S. senator from Vermont who is challenging Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, is a socialist. Whether they give a fig is a separate matter, which may tell you something about today’s Democrats.

Mr. Sanders is currently drawing the largest crowds of any candidate in either party. On Monday, he drew a crowd his campaign estimated at 27,500 to the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, including those in an overflow area outside, watching on giant video screens. Over the weekend, 28,000 people turned out to see him in Portland, Ore., and a campaign stop in Seattle pulled 15,000. The conventional wisdom is that Mr. Sanders’s bid is destined to fail. His progressive base is too white and too small for a party that places a premium on “diversity,” and the Democratic establishment has already settled on Mrs. Clinton.

All true, perhaps. The disruption of his Seattle appearance by “Black Lives Matter” protesters suggests that challenges lie ahead for him. But it is also true that no one is saying Bernie Sanders can’t win because America isn’t ready to elect an avowed socialist as president, which might have been the case not too long ago.

Mr. Sanders, a New York City native, moved to Vermont in 1968 after becoming involved with the radical left while attending the University of Chicago. He first ran for Senate in 1972 as the candidate of the socialist Liberty Union Party and garnered just 2% of the vote. He lost a few more statewide races, and then eked out a 10-vote victory in 1981 to become mayor of Burlington. In 1990, running as an independent, he became only the third socialist ever elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Everyone knows the single Road to Hell has the signs:

Liberalism, 1 mile
Socialism, 2 miles
Communism 3 miles.

Nobody is confused. The vast majority of “Liberals” WANT the Communist endpoint.

If the socialist is actually drawing those kinds of crowds, this nation is in bigger trouble than we realize.

But, if one considers a couple of decades of indoctrinating young people toward the socialist/communist/leftist/progressive ideology, perhaps the youths are just falling in line.

I am by Sanders like I am by 1/3 of the GOP wannabes: I just don’t see that kind of appeal toward them.

This is also an anti-Hillary or anyone (left) but Hillary.

She is doomed. The only question left is will she be convicted and spend time in prison?

So what is the difference between a socialist or Democrat ideology. (I being serious). Sanders is a declared socialist, yet Clinton seems to match his position move for move. What is the difference? Are all Democrats socialists now? I’m looking for differences and don’t see any.

Why should they? After all, Democrats ARE Socialists.

Same philosophy, different name. As a matter of fact they are really Fascists...not Socialists...Wait!.....Socialist-Fascists.

There, the right name pops right up.

I’ll take bets.

I’d call it a “Welfare State on Steroids” surge. In Socialism, at least there was a concept that everyone had to work and “from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.” Under the Welfare State, its “to each according to his wants and forget about any requirement to produce — the greedy rich will pay for it all once we force them to pay their fair share.”

A Sanders POTUS would not uphold Article 4, Section 4. He wants Socialism as America’s form of government.

“Are all Democrats socialists now?”

Of our two national parties, yes, the Democrats are the most socialist. Additionally they have always claimed to be the party of the Workers.

Accordingly, they are the National Socialist Worker’s Party.

In Germany that very same party was abbreviated NAZI.

Yup. And in the end, they will get a Stalin to lead them and the 50+ MILLION deaths that goes with it.

Everyone knows the single Road to Hell has the signs:

Liberalism, 1 mile
Socialism, 2 miles
Communism 3 miles.

Can you cite a single communist country, past or present, that has gone through those stages? It seems that it’s feudalism and oligarchical fascism that precede communism.

It would be far more productive for conservatives to discuss the Republican socialist surge. We have known what the Rats have been for decades.

Funny how calling Obama a socialist was labelled “racist,” and now we have the most popular Rat candidate a self-labelled socialist...

Interesting and telling that this appears in WSJ; the newspaper of record for the crony capitalists. So their response to this threat is...shill for lickspittles like jebito who have no chance of winning against a socialist juggernaut be it piaps or bernie the bolshevik.

I call bull. The WSJ is perfectly happy to see more socialism in our midst. They figure they and their ilk can profit regardless.

Democrat voters (a lot of them 3rd world immigrants) are supporting an admitted socialist Bernie Sanders.

Yes liberals do want communism. They are becoming bolder more out in the open Sanders, Megyn Kelly etc.

Socialism can never work.

It’s basically a government monopoly (an example is single payer healthcare)

Socialism is tyranny ,corruption , theft and oppression of the people

Liberal morons and 3rd world immigrants are big time idiots.

There is no competition as in the free market (capitalism)

In socialism There is no efficiency as government goons are not working with their own money (private proper = capitalism)

There is no accountability in socialism or government control because a government agency such as the IRS or EPA is not accountable to the people .IT’s the other way around.

All these factors multiply on the failures of the others and there are many more factors I haven’t named.
These are just a few reasons why socialism/government control can never work. It never has worked. It creates a government monopoly and hence tyranny and a dictator : think Venezuela and Chavez.

Sanders is an admitted socialist the other democrats and the news media are also socialists but they lie and say that they are just “progressives”. This socialism /tyranny is what the media is always pushing for. liberals are idiots.

Karl Marx HATED the middle class.
He wanted them DEAD.
He wanted their blood FLOWING in the streets.

Using Marx’s ideas to help the middle class is like using Hitler’s ideas to help the Jews.

And yet, that’s what Socialism is: Middle Class Marxism.

Everything going on in 2015 is because we’re experimenting with Marxism.

And when you tell Middle Class Marxists this, they start arguing with you.

So what do you want me to say?

“Support me and I will give you wealth and an easy life!”

It is the wealth of The Killing Fields. It is the easy life of The Death Camps.

The great gift of our nation’s founders, was that they understood human nature. They gave us a government that was designed to defend against the evils of human nature.

Socialism can never work.Socialism can never work. The sinngle greatest failing of socialim, as compared to the American Dream, is that there is no social mobility.

Born to a class, an economic level or social level, you must stay there.

The individual is locked in place.
