i.e. I want Trump to keep doing what he is doing, but I think an actual Trump presidency could be a catastrophe. Follow the story in the link to get the context from which the "strong man" emerges. It could be VERY bad in the end.

It is as if Obama has set us up for just such a man.

I see that the way I entered data, the link is titled “self”. I did not produce the article. It was an error in how I loaded data. Sorry about that.

Trump is no Conservative and no Leftist. He’s a moderate, which means we need Trump be to surrounded by Conservative if we have any hope of convincing him to go down the right path

You have an excellent point there, Cuban Leaf. I like Trump as a candidate, and he is a breath of fresh air on the stump. I hope he encourages other (?) conservative candidates to get bolder with the media and the Democrats, and stop playing the beltway game. But Trump’s temperament is good in some ways and dangerous in others. We have no way of knowing what characteristics a Trump presidency would have. What are his settled convictions? His core beliefs? We don’t really know, do we?

If you look at his stances in the past ...
If you look at Ronald Reagan past, you'll find he was a Democrat and was SAG union president to boot.

I wouldnt believe anything in Zero Hedge.

But I agree with you.

I love what he’s doing.

But he is Donald Trump.

Who knows what he will say or do after he were to get the nominee or be elected.

I have the same concerns. Cruz is the real thing and would make a fine president, but he can’t get the time of day.

Meanwhile Trump is picking all the right fights and has all the right enemies.

I’m a bit concerned just like anyone about some of his past pronouncements, things he said before he was prepared to go into politics, things he said as a businessman trying to survive in New York City. I’ve cut him a little slack, considering the circumstance and considering that he wasn’t really engaged in politics at the time.

But for example when he says he is the best candidate for “women’s issues”, I’m still waiting to hear what that means. There are a couple of things like that.

Still, on the border he is crystal clear. On trade issues he is crystal clear. I’m hoping he will flesh out his IRS plans soon; he has been a bit ambiguous but quotes from his book sound pretty good.

I don’t know that I agree with everything he says about the middle east, but I get the general drift and I do agree with the general drift.

And I like the fact that he and Cruz are finding common cause. That, I think, is the most important stamp of approval for me. If Cruz likes him, I’m in.

You are concerned?

If you are more comfortable with a “weak man” as president, I think Jeb is still in the race.

Just enjoy him for now and see what happens. I like Cruz and Huckabee, but I am not choosing right now. I want to wait a few months and see what happens. Right now the conversation has been very good. The right people are squirming.

imagine if Trump was not in.
IMO, it would be Bush all the way even at this point.
We would be screaming to get our candidate up in the polls.

This country is done already. Trump can’t kill a dead corpse.

Leftist immigrants and leftist illegals are reaching the tipping point where they and the marxrist natives outnumber us who are for individual liberty and freedom.
Trump is the only one that is not owned by rich donors .

All other politicians are owned by rich donors who don’t have the best interests of America in mind

This is why only Trump is saying build a wall, deport illegals, illegals are criminals, China is ripping the USA off, Mexico etc. etc.

Politicians have destroyed this country the USA.

All the other politicians are looking to make money off the donations and to advance their political career

This is why many politicians talk a good game but have never done anything conservative or to further the Interests of America or Americans : FACT

Trump is the only one that can get the USA out of the hole the politicians and the media put us in

Obama has about 100 seeds for socialism started already obamacare , HUD plan etc.

Even this year all your Senators voted for some of the worst bills ever to empower on the Iran deal and Obama trade

ALL the U.S. senators voted for the Corker bill which made Obama’s Iran deal unstoppable.
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2015/07/forget_obamarepublicans_made_the_iran_nukes_deal_possible.html

Well there was one Senator namely Cotton who voted against this empowering of Obama

All politicians are a bought-and-paid for corruptocrats for the internationalists to continue their plunder and destruction of America

If Trump wins the Presidency then he will have conservative and Republican coattails that are a mile long. He won’t be able to get any liberal policies through even if he wanted to. He’s running as a conservative on most issues. He will have a conservative congress to deal with and an angry electorate to keep him straight.

Frankly I’m glad he’s not very astute on policy issues. Trump is a businessman of extraordinary talent. He knows how to hire very competent people to run his businesses and he will likely do the same with his administration. He will hire the best and if they don’t produce, he will FIRE THEM.

That’s what has made him a very successful businessman and that is what would make him a very successful president.

The last President to do that was Ronald Reagan. He hired the best and if they didn’t produce he fired them and found someone who could.

Trump for all his faults is a committed patriot and nationalist. He is no one world neo-con like Bush and Bush and Obama and Bush.

Republicans need to find the perfect, flawless person who is able to be everything to everyone 110% of the time for at least four years.
Then we would all be happy and live in utopia.

I wanted to come in here and proclaim you a "concern troll" but you have been here a few years and I don't remember any other posts by you that support that so I'll give you a pass this time.

I followed the link to the cartoon strip version of "Road to Serfdom" and I'm struggling to find a connection here. If anything, Trump is the complete opposite of the "strong man" you allude to him being.

Personally I think the Trump presidency can be a great one because Trump is all about going against conventional thinking and doing things differently. I sincerely believe he would put the very best people in place at key positions, as opposed to putting people in place for political reasons. When Obama named Shrillary as Secratary of State, do you really think he did that because he thought that that old shrew was the best person for the job? No! She was horrible for the job. He put her in that position to buy off the Clintons, so that they would get over the 2008 election and support his re-election in 2012. It was nothing more than a "quid-pro-quo".

Trump will not need to do that. He can put people in positions on merit, not as favors in exchange for favors in return.

What would be a catastrophe would be if Shrillary or Jebbie Bush got the presidency.
