Election 2016 GOP Poll: Trump, Carson Lead While Jeb Bush Falls To Fifth In New Hampshire

Political newbies are rising and shining in the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary field, while establishment politician candidates are falling, according to the latest poll. And, they've gone down fast.

Neither of the top two contenders in the latest Monmouth University poll of likely Republican primary voters has ever held office. The leader, Donald Trump, with 28 percent, has spent the majority of his life in the public eye as a billionaire real estate mogul and even as an occasional Democrat. The second-place candidate, Ben Carson, with 17 percent, is a highly successful retired neurosurgeon. And the former governor of Florida who happens to be the brother and son of former presidents? He's dropped to a tie for fifth place, at 7 percent, with former Hewlett-Packard executive Carly Fiorina.

"Once again, the three candidates who have never held political office combine for a majority of support in a GOP primary poll," Patrick Murray, the director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute in New Jersey, said in a release with the polling data. "It appears that GOP voters are using the 2016 nomination contest to air their grievances with party leadership."

Without New Hampshire momentum, moderate republicans are toast. Goodbye Jeb!

Once people get to know Carson’s amnesty plans his numbers will fall. He’s the not-Trump and not-Yeb! candidate right now.

Jebbie's new strategy....patience, hopeful optimism, and flexing his leadership skills......seems to have flopped.

Actually, this is the same strategy Jeb used when his mother told him to clean-up his room:

“First I asked Mom for patience. Then looking like I’m working hard, I wear Mom down w/ a hopeful optimistic message, and finally I show Mom my leadership skills by ordering a pizza....all by myself.”

In a “business as usual” election, candidate Sen Ted Cruz’s incessant committee-hopping would be seen as a gild-edged asset.

TED CRUZ’s CURRENT SENATE COMMITTEES (SOURCE: Cruz web site):

•Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities
•Subcommittee on Seapower
•Subcommittee on Strategic Forces
Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation
•Subcommittee on Space, Science, and Competitiveness, Chairman
•Subcommittee on Aviation Operations, Safety, and Security
•Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet
•Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, Insurance, and Data Security
•Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and Coast Guard
Committee on the Judiciary
•Subcommittee on Oversight, Agency Action, Federal Rights and Federal Courts, Chairman
•Subcommittee on The Constitution
•Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest
Joint Economic Committee
Committee on Rules & Administration “

I would place Trump and Carson closer to the moderate wing than the conservative wing. I suppose it depends on which issues are most important to the individual, but for me, they both are closer to that. Trump seems too fluid for my comfort. Carson becomes more liberal sounding the more I listen to him. I like the personalities of both. I can’t support them on the issues that matter most to me.

"Once again, the three candidates who have never held political office combine for a majority of support in a GOP primary poll," said Patrick Murray, the director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute in New Jersey.

It is now considered political suicide to mention one even has a political resume.....never mind listing one's political activities.

I took one of those “who’s your candidate for president” tests. My candidate based on the issues was Ted Cruz. No surprise there. But I agreed with Donald Trump on 75% of the issues. That’s not bad. Much better than phoney Romney or liberal McCain.

We could certainly do worse than Trump. Not that it matters, because we are all intentionally sustaining him until all the Establishment-preferred candidates are pounded into the electoral dust.

It looks like Cruz is on 5 committees - Armed Services, Judiciary, Commerce, Rules and Joint Economic committee. The rest that you listed are just sub-committees of the committees listed above.

Are you implying that this is a negative for Cruz somehow?

So an illegal invasion and putting a stop to it isn’t in your wheelhouse?

Convenient to say Trump AND Carson are in the lead...I thought there’s only one in a lead...if you include two, why not three? Four? After all, there’s sixteen in the race...what’s the criteria for being in the lead?

I agree with Trump on immigration. I don’t agree with him on homo marriage or on his position against Kim Davis.

Jeb tied for 5th in a decidedly liberal leaning state? Pobrecito!

Well, Trump seems too fluid to me. I may agree with him 75% some days, but not others. I am not comfortable with someone who bends so easily.

I like his personality very much. I also like his hair, LOL. I like that he is giving the media a hard time. No, I LOVE that he is giving the media a hard time.

Oh, I agree with you. But I think we all find it very refreshing for a REPUBLICAN candidate to not be intimidated by the media, or any issue. He swats away detractors like flies, because he KNOWS he’s smarter than all of them and he’s six steps ahead of them.

It certainly is a pleasure to watch the Establishment so openly flummoxed. They’re all being smoked out!

That was one of the most intelligent, and courteous statements I have seen on FR for a while.

Marriage is a State issue and not Federal.

As for Kim Davis: she is an elected official. If the citizens of her county want to dump her they can elect someone else. I frankly do not see any reason to elect someone else. Queers can go to another county to find someone who will issue them a marriage license.

One of the big problems I see with social conservatives is that they are too emotional about something our Founders purposefully created, which is a division between the Federal government’s powers and the several States. The States were granted unlimited powers, outside the US Constitution, enabling them to be social laboratories.

We just have to keep our cool and figure out how to legally defuse the so-called Progressive lawyers.
