Family of unarmed Michigan teen fatally shot by officer in traffic stop over flashing car’s brights files wrongful death lawsuit
I had not heard about this until yesterday. If the kid was black, I know I would have heard about it.
Apparently serfs are not to inform their betters that the knights of the realm left their brights on?
I only flash my brights once.
Then I figure the other driver is doing it purposely.
I simply switch to brights myself.

Obviously racism. He would never have been shot if he was white... Oh wait.
I thought it has already been established in court that flashing your headlights to warn others of a cop’s presence is free speech. Unless we’re talking about something else here, like, if people were deliberately harassing the cop by shining their lights in his eyes.
That being said if you’re pulled over while driving you have to present your license if asked. It’s not an option. And you fight the cops in court not on the side of the road. Right or wrong you will not win if you go all physical on a cop.
Many years ago when I was in my 20s, I flashed my lights to warn of a speed trap and it turned out to be an unmarked cop car. He spun his car in a 180 and immediately pulled me over. His face was literally beet red and he was screaming and yelling at me that I was interfering in efforts to catch speeders. In my opinion, I was helping the cause by forcing people to slow down.
Anyway, he didn't even give me a ticket. But was he ever pissed about it.
Looks completely justified to me. A lawful order, as defined by the law, is any order that helps the officer effect his duties.
The young man had several opportunities to comply, but chose not to.
But why are we getting dumbsh_t kids who mouth back cops and even worse, think they can fight them? I've seen lots of these louts out there and if they survive their 20s, it'd be a miracle. Where the heck are their parents?
This kid's parents are partially to blame!
He tried to do something nice here, and for his efforts he got murdered by a government official.
I just watched the video. The kid was so stupid he would never have reached his 21st birthday. Somebody would have killed him for being a jerk.
He resisted arrest. He fought with the cop. The cop ended up shooting him.
I don’t think I have ever witnessed a stupider teenager before. Suicide by stupidity.
Tragic story
If the details released are true I wonder why the kid was not compliant with the cop at the onset? Answer the cop questions, then maybe it won’t escalate into aggression especially by a mentally unbalanced cop
The side of the road at night is no time or place to argue with a cop. Period.
Arrogant little prick high on marijuana who was uncooperative and assaulted the officer. All he had to do was comply. That was the last stupid decision he ever made.
Eh. Kid on dope gets weird, beligerent, and attacks cop. Winds up dead.
I have the same amount of sympathy for him that I have for Michael Brown... none.
Sure looks to me like that cop before he brutally shot that poor teenager, beat the snot out of the kid’s fist. With his face.
Why didn’t the kid comply ?
I've taught my kids to turn lights on and off rather than use high low .... principally because as a retired big truck driver ... we are often gravely eyed at night and a high beam in our mirror can really hurt

I watched the video, and the cop was looking for trouble
His fellow troopers should have a deadly blanket party and send a signal
We The People Of The United States no longer need "the law" to justify righteousness
Truth be known ..."the law" has nothing to do with righteousness, but everything to do with retaliating against the "wrong doers" of (in some ... many ... cases) ... invented infractions

This kid, trayvon martin, michael brown...all high on pot, attack armed people, get shot... I see a pattern.
The article says the boy was a teen but the picture shows him to be white.
