Glenn Beck Puts Ted Cruz’s ‘Eerily Accurate’ Memory to the Test After CNBC Debate

After Glenn Beck 'revealed Ted Cruz's "audiographic memory," he shared on the radio Thursday how he put the Texas senator to the test during the Republican presidential debate.'

In a particularly strong moment, Cruz shot back at the CNBC debate moderators, calling them out on their questioning tactics.

"The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don't trust the media," Cruz said in response to a question regarding his problem-solving ability from CNBC's Carl Quintanilla. "This is not a cage match."

Cruz went on to list the ways in which the debate questioners engaged the GOP candidates: "’Donald Trump, are you a comic book villain?,' 'Ben Carson, can you do math?,' 'John Kasich, will you insult two people over here?,' 'Marco Rubio, why don't you resign?,' 'Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?'"

According to Fox News’ Frank Luntz, Cruz’s heated exchange garnered a 98 percent favorable rating among conservative and moderate voters — the highest percentage the analysts says he has recorded in 15 years of focus groups.

Beck said he’d asked his team to do two things to confirm Cruz’s “eerily accurate” memory: make sure Cruz was correct in his portrayal, and confirm whether or not he listed everything off in the right order.'

"You want to talk about an audiographic memory, not taking notes on what they said and getting it right, but then did you get it in the right order? Yes," Beck confirmed after replaying the debate audio. "That's the kind of guy you want at the negotiating table."'

"Can you imagine - having a president of the United States who had an audiographic memory, and sitting across the table from Vladimir Putin and Iran and saying, 'No, that's not what you said?'" Beck asked.

Obama and Hillary must have very good memories because it’s hard to tell that many lies without repeating them.

As opposed to Mr. Beck who hopes no one remembers next week what he said today. Methinks Mr. Beck himself is a bit worried by Mr. Cruz.

He just heard it....within the last few minutes. Big deal.

But I'm betting he does a lot of practicing using tapes.

It is a trained behavior.

Glenn Beck is not someone I pay attention to, but Cruz sure was impressive last night. I love the way he fights and knows what to fight.

Natural memory abilities are a fascinating thing. The ability to remember everything one hears is amazing and it’s obvious Cruz knows how to use it to his advantage. He’s a smart man. It’s good to know he’s on “our” side.

Cruz has presence of mind under fire. Trump lied last night, seems to have trouble remembering what he has said. Trump has grown on me but he is no match for the presidential qualities of Cruz. Yeah Cruz is a politician but he is the closest to matching what I want in 35 years.
Now in terms of getting the questions in order, they did go straight down the row, grant you that.

So what? You don’t see an audiographic memory as a good thing for our President to have? It’s kinda unusual.

Exactly. Either some poeple like beck are just that dumb or have never been around smart business people. Cruz summarized he did not quote verbatum. No big deal.

I think it would be an excellent attribute for a President.

Supposedly Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt also possessed this ability

Doubt it. According to my research, such audiographic memory (or Eidetic Memory) is *extremely* rare in adults. Much less than 1% of the population.

Well, I would think that this ability would be somewhat rare. This is not just a good memory, it is someone who remembers everything that is said. I think people who remember everything they read used to be called having a photographic memory. This is like that only with sound. And, a useful tool, and advantage.
