Book Excerpt: Donald Trump's 'Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again'

Think about 40 Wall Street, one of the greatest buildings in New York City. For a brief time, along with the Chrysler Building, it was one of the two tallest buildings in the world. But it had fallen into disrepair. It was awful. They couldn’t rent office space there.

I bought 40 Wall Street and completely redid it. Now it is a classic—and by the way, 100 percent rented and a very profitable building.

In Washington, DC, I’m converting the Old Post Office Building on Pennsylvania Avenue into one of the world’s greatest hotels. I got the building from the General Services Administration. Tthe GSA sold it to me for four reasons. Number one—we’re really good. Number two—we had a really great plan. Number three—we had a great financial statement. Number four—we’re EXCELLENT, not just very good, at fulfilling or even exceeding our agreements.

That’s the way the country should be run.

Fixing our infrastructure will be one of the biggest projects this country has ever undertaken. There isn’t going to be a second chance to get it right. Let me ask you, if your own house was falling down and you had to hire someone to fix it before it completely collapsed, who would you hire? A guy who tells you what he’s planning to do, or a guy who has proven what he can do countless times before?

In America, our house is falling down. Numerous times I’ve developed project after project. I raise the money, solve endless problems, bring in the right people, and get it done. Those are four words politicians can’t use: I get it done.

I just bought Art of the Deal to read on my tablet for the trip from Anchorage to Sydney coming up in a couple of weeks, its actually captivating to me.

Will probably buy this one too, i really admire Donald Trump, not because he is rich but because i often feel like i could learn so much from him. My life seems to be in a holding pattern but somehow he comes off as an excellant mentor, kick butt Mr. TRUMP!

We all know that Trump wants to spend more and tax less. Where is the money going to come from?

Who cares?

Money quote: “Those are four words politicians can’t use: I get it done.”

Question: If a President XXXXXXX issues an executive order to build infrastructure with private funds, does he need Congress approval?

How to make America great again?

Simple - hop in a time machine and travel back to the days of the Reagan administration.

No Donald, do not be naïve, the people in charge certainly know how to fill potholes the problem is not their ignorance but yours, they are not motivated to fill potholes they are motivated to fill political holes.

The problem is not filling a hole or building a skating rink, the problem is the ageless problem of politics which has once been summed up as Who Gets What Where and How. If you want to know how to fill potholes you can learn that in an afternoon but if you want to know how to get potholes filled in New York City you ought to read the biography of Robert Moses.

But in your case it was by your own admission easier to bribe the officials with campaign contributions and blandishments about how you are Democrat to get the government on your side and exploit a piece of real estate to your advantage.

Hasselback just asked him if there was someone “on stage” during the debates that he would choose to be with him and he said Yes! I think we all have a possible idea who.

When she tried to pin him down he would not say names. Then he said well there are a few that I think would be good but he deliberately said yes, there is one on stage he would pick for VP.

Anyone else see that?

More givers (workers), less takers. A strong economy (he just said on tv) will be able to pay for “entitlements”. It kind of irked me he included Social Security in with “entitlements”. That is not an entitlement, people have paid into that all their lives but I guess there are some who’ve never paid in and get SSI.

Once you start reading it, it becomes tough to put down.

Yes, and cut waste, fraud, and abuse and the budget will balance. Where have we heard that all before?

Because he said so? Well that clears that up.

That is not an entitlement, people have paid into that all their lives but I guess there are some who’ve never paid in and get SSI.

Yes, they're called "children" and it happens when one or both of their parents die. Lousy takers.
