Trump's Muslim moratorium backed by conservative icon (Phyllis Schlafly)
WND ^ | Paul Bremmer

Donald Trump's call for a temporary ban on all Muslim entry in the United States is getting enthusiastic support from a conservative icon, as legendary activist Phyllis Schlafly called for the grassroots to support his plan.

"I think it's an excellent idea, and you know, after the big immigration push in the 1920s, we had something that everybody referred to as a pause, and that was a stoppage of all immigration for a number of years," recalled Schlafly, a WND columnist and author of "Who Killed the American Family?"

In fact, Schlafly said she would support another temporary moratorium on all legal immigration.

"Recall what we did in the '20s: call it a pause," she declared.

Schlafly's support echoes the enthusiastic reception Trump's proposal has found among Republican primary voters. A recent poll found 65 percent of likely Republican primary voters favor Trump's proposal.

Others are not crazy about Trump's details, but say immigration is a problem.

In a National Review editorial, Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, called for "ideological screening" of all who want to enter the country. By that he means the U.S. should deny entry to those who believe in Islamic supremacy, whether or not they have committed violent acts in the past.

I agree with banning Muslims, but I think it’s more important to ban everyone who might be lying about being a Christian, or Yazidi, or Ba’hai, or unaffiliated, or atheist.

If someone says, “I’m from Syria, but I’m an atheist.” are we going to let him in because he says he’s not a muslim?

Which brings up a good point - HOW would you ban all muslims? They can come in from anywhere, and say whatever they want.

I would call a pause on ALL immigration (doesn’t sound discriminatory, plus it has a precedent) until:

- the illegal immigrant problem has been satisfactorily resolved

- the current legal immigrants in the country have been completely assimilated

- the number of people out of the work force is down from 95,000,000 to an acceptable number

Until then, close the doors, for your own sake.

Mark Krikorian was on Bill Bennett the other day and while that show can be a RINO-fest at times, San Bernadino is making everyone put on their big boy pants and get serious.

What Mark eluded too, a ban on immigration should not exclude visa's, of all types since we even loose track of tourist, but also foreign exchange students. I think everyone here on FR would agree the whole immigration system needs rebuilding, it is time for a Major Overhaul, all systems are broke. Even Dr. Bennett even eluded this will not go well with the these Colleges. IMHO these colleges will probably squeal like stuck pigs as that revenue stream dries up as they charge them a full price if not more. It is no wonder they promote Diversity / Multi-Culturalism, it is a cash generator for them.

IMHO it is hard enough to get students in a University, don't ask how I know. American 1st, especially Engineering IMHO...

Phyllis also opposed GHWB as the VP candidate in 1980, but Reagan felt compelled to appease the large number of “moderates”. She wanted Jesse Helms, as I recall!

Phyllis Schlafly, a TITAN among conservatives.

And there’s another border threat that could end up killing more people than terrorists:

She also has to be one of the few still around who is old enough to have endorsed Taft (1952).

Last time she endorsed Bachmann in Iowa and voted for Santorum in her Missouri primary.

“If someone says, ‘I’m from Syria, but I’m an atheist.’ are we going to let him in because he says he’s not a muslim?”

An atheist in Syria would most likely pretend to be muslim. That person’s life is not in very much danger compared to church-going Christians who are on file, who are known by fellow Christians, etc — more easily vetted.

Regardless, I believe in eye dialation monitoring during interviews with refugees.

A high-def camera can put the eye on a large screen. Little training required. Eye dialation is difficult to fake compared with other lie detection systems. For example, you show footage of 9-11 attacks. Do their pupils dialate with pleasure? Then reject them.
