The Bill Clinton Question (Is he a rapist?)
New York Times ^ | January 16, 2016 | Ross Douthat

Posted on 01/17/2016 3:41:40 AM PST by reaganaut1

...

Then there's the narrative that I suspect most Americans believe, in which the former president was much more of a tomcat in Arkansas, and probably has tomcatted occasionally in his post-presidency -- but always consensually, and lately in ways that have minimized exposure or embarrassment.

If either of these narratives are true, then Clinton's sex life will be a non-issue in 2016. If an adulterer, even a frequent adulterer, is all he is, then an America that didn't want him impeached in the 1990s isn't going to object to having him as the First Gentlemen today.

But suppose you believe the Broaddrick story. Liberals dismissed it during the impeachment days, but if you read the summary of the case from the (mostly liberal) Dylan Matthews at the (mostly liberal) website Vox, this dismissal looks unfair. There's an inescapable he-said/she-said dynamic, but one need not be a "believe all rape allegations" absolutist to find her claim persuasive.

If she's telling the truth, then Clinton's sexual past becomes something more predatory. The slippage between a powerful man's dalliances and straightforward predation is something that could happen just once. But looked at in the light of a credible rape allegation, there are all sorts of Clinton stories -- the Willey and Jones cases, the rumors collected by Jones's lawyers, the old tales of state troopers being used as procurers, the 2002 globetrotting on the jet of a billionaire who's also a convicted statutory rapist -- that could suggest a darker pattern, tending toward the Cosby-esque.

The truth about Bill Clinton's past, then, is that we don't actually know the truth. And even in our tabloid-driven age, it's quite possible that we simply never will.

His history of adultery and assault are relevant because Hillary enabled his behavior for decades by standing by him and slandering his victims. Now she is pretending to be a defender of women. His sleaziness won't be the main issue, but in a close election it could make a difference. I bet Gore would have defeated Bush in 2000 were it not for voters disgusted by the Clinton/Lewinsky slime.

You could argue that one single rape on your part....was a mistake and get away with it. After the fifth rape....well, you are a serial rapist and need to be put into a long-term jail deal.

Wow, for the New York Times to publish a story like this tells me that it's all over for Hillary.

“...then an America that didn’t want him impeached in the 1990s...”

Too bad, NYT, he WAS impeached (and we wanted him removed from office, too).

He misses the real point, that it is not Bill's behavior that is the current question but rather Hillary's political handling of the serial issues. That is the true question of the day.

Yeah, that story is an endorsement of Sanders.

One issue is that they are reporting only part of it, omitting Hillary’s role in the attempts to destroy, discredit, and shame into silence the victims.
So they are “lying by telling a truth” as it were.

The problem with having such power and wealth without an extremely strong moral compass is that one gets sexually jaded.

People offer themselves, or things they have to the wealthy and powerful in order to ingratiate themselves.

That’s all good, at first, but then one wants ‘something more, something else’.

Even if, and sometimes especially if, that something is dangerous, or evil. Even if they do it as the risk of losing everything, including their own life.

Clinton had women throwing themselves at his feet. Eventually, that was not good enough. Did not provide the thrill and pleasure any more. He got JADED. So.... he went to the next step. Cosby did the same. Wasn’t good enough that women were willing, it was only thrilling if he could do it without their permission.

Hollywood stars, politicians, the uber-wealthy. Most follow the same pattern. Many die from it. (overdosing on drugs or hanging themselves while pleasuring themselves sexually).

It is very similar to what Jesus tried to warn us about in the Bible story about the temptation.

The author uses the word “tomcatting”, I I wonder how he defines it? Innocuous serial sex that has no arc or effect on the subject?

When your catch phrase for women is “Put some ice on it”...well, you’re probably a rapist.

i read the article. it said what may come to light in the near future is more important that what is already known.

why dont these women agree to lie detector tests. i’m sure a million conservatives would pay for them.

their revenge would be ruining hillary’s chances.

and then we get to have a man who spent his honeymoon in the USSR as possibly our next president. sheesh.

saw a great movie last night. Citizen X, about a serial killer in the USSR.

anyway, the excitement over a single ham and a box of tissues is in our future if another dem and even some pubs win the election.

Innocuous serial sex that has no arc or effect on the subject?

That sounds pretty accurate to me. We have reached a point at which it is socially unacceptable to disapprove of any consensual fornication, and even rampant adultery generally gets a pass if the other spouse can be deemed unattractive.

Bill Clinton is the reason HR Departments nationwide conduct mandatory sexual harassment workshops.

Bill Clinton is the reason HR Departments nationwide conduct mandatory sexual harassment workshops.

That's not true...

His sexual scandals did move such mandatory HR management tools higher up the priorities ladder...

An excellent read:

The rape of Juanita Broaddrick
http://www.wnd.com/2005/05/30492/

Editor’s note: Candice Jackson’s explosive new book, “Their Lives: The Women Targeted by the Clinton Machine,” tells, like never before, the stories of Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick and others who have suffered from the actions of William Jefferson Clinton.

In this excerpt from the book, Jackson comprehensively covers Broaddrick’s story of being raped by Clinton, tells of her own experience being sexually assaulted and explains how she believes American liberalism encourages the forcing of the will on others.

“is he a rapist?” yes

It was well reported at the time about how they intended to destroy this dumb intern that bill had been unselfishly spending his valuable time mentoring in private, portraying her as some mentally unstable attention seeking ‘stalker’ right up until she pulled the blue dress out of her closet,

The clintons were willing to destroy her and throw the carcass over the castle wall,

How this nation could even consider putting these scandal-ridden loathsome, despotic, self aggrandizing clintons back into the White House boggles the mind, but this is the same voters that elected that obama creature not once but twice, even after they knew what it was,

It’s very damaging that Juanita Broaderick, Elizabeth Gracen and Kathleen Wiley are all believable, (I’m sure there are others I don’t recall or have never heard of)
