HUBBARD, Iowa — Senator Ted Cruz is often asked about doing away with President Obama’s health care law. He is rarely pressed by voters on what will replace it.

Funny how the New York Times never focuses on the questions on those who lost important coverage and DIED because of Obamacare.

Capitalism? free markets? Government withdrawl from healthcare. removing the tax penalties that make people have to get insurance from an employer instead of the way I buy it for my car. Tort reform?

Well Cruz is the brains guy. He should be able to figure out some kind of answer here. It would have to look like some kind of walk-back with bridges. Obamacare was designed to burn bridges, therefore to go back would require rebuilding them.

Yeah that means the poor taxpayer gets socked both ways, however to stay here is death.

Replace it? I am reminded of President Reagan’s answer to someone’s question about the need for having a Department of Energy to administer an energy policy. Reagan told them we already had an energy policy called the free market.

Easy.

Since nearly everyone of the 10.5 million who signed up for Obamacare are on Medicaid, sign them up for Medicaid.

I have a friend who is a very successful ear, nose and throat doc. I asked him how he would like to see Obamacare fixed or replaced and he said that if it were possible to remove the whole managed care structure - that would be a great start.

Was it Thomas Sowell who said, “When you cut out a CANCER what do you replace it with?”

the basic answer is simple and Ted should have been prepared to answer it:

eliminate all interstate policy restrictions to foster competition, eliminate all coverage restrictions to allow people to decide for themselves what kind of coverage they want, and expand medicaid for the poor. easy peasy.

no gop candidate should be caught flatfooted by this question.

Misleading title. The way the article is written, the silence came when the questioner was describing his brother in law’s fatal illness. The silence was a perfectly natural show of respect and empathy.

Turns out, the questioner was a Clinton supporter. Cruz gave the same answer he always gives, essentially that if we get the cost of insurance down by natural market forces, we won’t need budget-busting government-centered systems like Obamacare. And that’s just true.

Peace,

SR

We all know the answer to that question: Cruz will do what his donors and what McConnell/Ryan and the Uniparty TELL him to do.

The only affordable and workable system is a two-tier healthcare solution.

Private healthcare and insurance for those that can afford the best and a public system for all the rest.

Good care for all but allow those that can afford it to be in a separate, Cadillac system.

There is NO WAY that this country can afford Cadillac care for all comers on the public’s dime.

Get government out of the damned way and allow insurance across state lines.

Implement malpractice reform!!! At least require very large judgements to require a trial before 12 jurors... all of which must vote yea to grant large malpractice judgments.
The civil court method makes it too easy to award outrageous sums.

Get rid of the illegal freeloaders sucking all the $$$ out of taxpayers pockets to care for them. Build the wall, deport, end birthright citizenship... this will dramatically lower healthcare costs! The US taxpayer has no moral responsibility to care for all the world’s indigent :-(

BTW: we have had an extremely goofy and expensive system of universal healthcare for a very long time here in the US. It started when it became mandatory that anyone who shows up at an emergency room must get treatment regardless of ability to pay or citizenship status. I’m not saying here that the poor should be turned away to die in the street... I’m saying come up with something better and keep the illegals out so they don’t get a chance to show up at an ER.

Please read the article and the link to the 58 year old brother in law who had a business and skill his whole life.

I do not for one second believe this man who was a pillar of his community, friend of NFL players, businessman, family man, and was involved in charities - could never in his life afford healthcare until Obamacare shortly before his death.

I call total bull crap on his bil Hilary supporter.

The man who died was diagnosed with multiple tumors and the doctors said they could do nothing for him - a great victory for Obamacare?

“Well, seems to me we were doing OK— and paying less— before Obamacare. I think the best thing would be to just tell everyone to go back to what they were doing in 2008. In fact, doing that in all areas would solve a lot of our current problems.”

Mr. Valde — who said in an interview later that he did in fact intend to caucus for Mrs. Clinton — pressed on.

“My question is, what are you going to replace it with?” he said.

So this klintoon idiot’s BIL never had health insurance before nobamacare. Meaning he got it dang near free.

Sounds like Cruz explained how nobamacare would be replaced. Am sure that did not satisfy the klintoon voter who wanted ‘Mo Free Shite’.

Tell us, how does that enhance your Pied Piper?

Why would Americans want anything to replace Obamacare, if we manage to get rid of it?

Medicine is not something the gov’t should be involved in at the individual level.

It does not need to be replaced by anything. States have always had programs for the indigent and disabled. The need to replace Obamacare has always been a mute argument. The idiocy of people astounds me.
