Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.
Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa. According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.
U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.
"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's really unfortunate with any death. And now, politically, in the presidential cycle we're in my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

Truly, aside from the deranged, you've got extremely soft support for Hillary and Bernie's utopia of pie in the sky taxes. You make the next election about Ted Cruz being a SCOTUS justice and I'm pretty sure you'd reinvigorate the Democrats like no tomorrow.
The Texas Rangers should be investigating the death. Don’t back down to the feds like they did with JFK.
However, Obama may cry crocodile tears over being thwarted. If he thinks Hillary will be the next President, he may angle to be her nominee. If he thinks that is how things will play out, he might even drag his feet, a bit.
Trump did say he’d appoint his sister though, didn’t he? And isn’t his sister extremely liberal; pro baby killing and homo marriage?
The only principle those people stand for is self-benefit. They will withhold confirmation ONLY if it to their own personal benefit.
Obama will probably try to appoint a hispanic or asian woman and try to make the GOP look racist and sexist in opposing her nomination.
I hope the GOP doesn’t fall for it. Remember what the Democrats did to conservative judge Miguel Estada.
Cruz, Paul and Lee will. But they will be up against friends of Obama; McCain, McConnell and Hatch - the guys who quickly went to work to confirm Sotomayor and Kagan.
