Real Clear Politics ^

Based on the raw vote and delegate counts at Real Clear Politics, consider the following:

Raw vote %:
Trump - 40%
Cruz - 29%

Delegate %:
Trump - 49%
Cruz - 32%

Bump created by the "system" (delegate % divided by raw vote%):
Trump - 22%
Cruz - 10%

Votes per delegate (how many votes did it take on average to get one delegate):
Trump - 10,322

Cruz is just trying to outright steal them with help from the GOP. Going against the wishes of the voters is of no concern to Cruz.

That is such a BS answer. Trump, and Cruz, both have worked within the rules setup by the different states. Trump has done it better at times and Cruz has done it better in others. The constant whining about how the system is “rigged”, or “unfair” is getting old, especially when 99% of the time it comes on the heels of Trump not winning someplace, or another.

If you want to talk about voters, be honest and admit that around 60% of the primary voters on the GOP side have not voted for Trump. Aside from what his supporters say, that is NOT an overwhelming vote of confidence. He’s not not going to get to 1237 because the vote is rigged. He won;t get there, because a majority of the primary voters didn’t vote for him. If he wins the nomination, which I think he does, even on a second ballot at this point, he is going to benefit from the fact that the alternative is will be sooooo much worse than he is.

I don’t like Trump, never have, even before the current mess. He’s a populist liberal who has managed to convince otherwise right thinking people that he’s made a 180 degree change in principle in less than 2 years. Sorry, despite what we says, I’m not buying it. Like I said, though, the alternative is much worse. We still might recover if he is elected. We won’t if hillary or bernie are.

Here’s the difference. Trump won those delegates by winning the votes of the people.

The delegates Cruz acquired in Colorado and Wyoming were obtained not by the results of an open primary election or caucus, but by the election of delegates by GOP party activists who favor Cruz at the party conventions of the two states in question.

Those delegates were not earned by winning the vote of the people, but by selection by party insiders and activists.

In fact, the rules were changed in Colorado for the express reason that the Co. GOP didn’t want their delegates bound to the vote in a popular election.

Anyone not blinded to supporting Ted Cruz with the “by any means necessary” mindset can see the difference in how those delegates were obtained and we don’t like it.

If you’re claiming justification of how this was done because “they were just playing by the rules”, you’re one of the “insiders” we mean to oust from the way things are being done.

>Unworthy of those who claim to be Conservative? Trump is no Conservative, so don’t try and claim that mantle for him or his supporters.

Who said anything about Trump? I’m writing about the behavior of those who, in support of Cruz, claim that mantle for him and themselves.

Their actions during this campaign, whether they were against Carson, Rubio, Kasich, or Trump, are the very oligarchic, party-centric, anti-republican (small r) behavior both the Trump and Cruz campaigns started out opposing.

Similarly, the people cheering this behavior on here and elsewhere concern me. “The ends justify the means”, or in newspeak, #nevertrump, is doublethink if you simultaneously claim to be standing on principle.

‘When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’ Today, apparently, “Conservative” means to use the minutiae of party rules in defiance of the people, both in open and closed primaries, and to claim to be anti-GOP-establishment while incorporating the GOP-Establishment into one’s campaign and into the campaign’s funding stream.

That doesn’t say ‘conservative’ to me. It doesn’t say ‘liberal’ either. It says ‘doublespeak’ and ‘oligarchy’ to me, or in the FR jargon, Uniparty.
