Venezuela is running out .. everything. Food, medicine, electricity, toilet paper, condoms

Venezuela is running out of just about everything. Food, medicine, electricity, toilet paper, condoms -- you name it. ( Full title ).

And over the weekend at least two large international airlines -- Lufthansa and LATAM -- said they will suspend service to Venezuela in the coming months due to the economic crisis.

The widespread scarcities and fleeing businesses reflect a country in crisis.

"There's a shortage of everything at some level," says Ricardo Cusanno, vice president of Venezuela's Chamber of Commerce. Cusanno says 85% of companies in Venezuela have halted production to some extent.

Venezuela's economy is spiraling into extreme recession. It is ironic given that the country sits on the world's largest proven oil reserves of oil. However Venezuela hasn't cut back from expensive government spending even as oil prices have lost half its value in the past two years.

...

Rolling blackouts in Venezuela.

...

A health care crisis.

Venezuela lacks roughly 80% of the basic medical supplies needed to treat its population, according to the Pharmaceutical Federation of Venezuela. People are dying in hospitals for lack of sufficient medicines and equipment.

Prices are skyrocketing for anything left, except for Sean Penn movies on DVD discs. Still plentiful supply.

Venezuela may be on the ropes there, but just wait until our much smarter American Socialists get a hold of all the levers here.

America will thrive with all our Socialist geniuses at the wheel! It's guaranteed!! /s/

Socialism: a record of 100% failure that only an “intellectual” would still believe in.

There’s much that we don’t know about in countries to the south.

One shortage could be alleviated a bit by having Cuba send crates
of printed Castro speeches.

We’ll be building our way out of trouble before long, too. Slavery through overly centralized means of production and artificial scarcity is not a good economic plan.

Welcome to our future if Trump does not win.

*****************************************

Actually, the sad fact is that something like this this is in our future regardless of who wins in November.

No less an expert then ex Fed Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan has explicitly told us so.

This election is critical because who we elect will determine how the crisis is responded to and what our country will look like afterward.

We have a choice of electing one of the people primarily responsible for engineering and intentionally manufacturing the coming crisis so they can take advantage of it or we can elect Donald Trump.

The Venezuelan economic crisis has hit because of the collapse of the oil revenues that Hugo Chavez and Maduro were using to pay their welfare class.

In America, the Venezuela style collapse will occur immediately upon the inability of the US Government to borrow 50 cents of every dollar it spends to pay our welfare class.

This can happen almost overnight.

It took years for Chavez and Maduro to have driven Venezuela's oil production into the ground so badly that even if oil prices had not collapsed from their 100+ per barrel high, Venezuela could not pump enough oil to pay to float their economy even if oil were still 100+ per barrel .

Venezuela's collapse has been slower because it takes a while to destroy an oil industry that produces a product that produces revenues..

A collapse can be very quick here because when half the US Government's budget is purely borrowed money it's hard to make up the difference when the ability to borrow evaporates in short order.

Very true. and thank you for the great article!

A man who came from Poland as a child made a fascinating presentation including that very topic. He--a nuclear physicist--now develops a farm and production prototype facilities for all. Watching the following would probably be well worth your time. It's not the only effort of its kind, either. There are many others.

It's very important for each and every one of us, rich or poor, to get involved in some way or other.
