GOP insiders fear Trump will demand but not return party loyalty
Washington Examiner ^ | 6/1/2016 | David M. Drucker

Donald Trump has started punishing top Republicans who don't back him, making clear they need to fall in line or face dire consequences.

His loyalists and GOP voters angry with their party approve, but Republican insiders worry that it will make unity more difficult.

The issue flared when Trump rebuked Gov. Susana Martinez, of New Mexico, at a recent campaign rally in Albuquerque. It was payback for Martinez criticizing Trump and refusing to share a stage with him.

Republican officials were horrified that Trump would attack on the governor's home turf, a Democratic-leaning state that she has won twice. They wondered: How does that help you win the White House?

This article is really rich. Paul Ryan can blow off Trump and there is no problem. Romney and Bush can blow off Trump and it is their right. Susana Martinez can blow off Trump because she is a prodigy and can do no wrong. This sounds like Trump needs to get on his knees and bow before the GOP pretty people so he will be accepted.

Ridiculous! Trump needs to start breaking kneecaps and cleaning house. It is these establishment idiots who have made such a mess. They need to be wiped off the face of the earth of politics.

The GOP establishment needs to get in line or get out of the way.

Loyalty is a two-way street.

As GOP nominee, Trump expects the party to do its part, too.

If it wants to win in November.

They deserve no “loyalty”. The concept is foreign to them. Especially with respect to any ‘loyalty’ they’ve ever given their constituents regarding the promises they made to them.

The GOPe needs to look in the mirror. The only thing they are loyal to is the donor class and corporate lobbyists.

Bull shiite! These Republican “insider” scumbags don’t understand that in Trump’s world the word “loyalty” is a real concept not just the one way street they foolishly think they can make him travel. The Trump Administration will be fun to watch and great for America.

Trump is being far more loyal to the party than the “party” has been to him!!!

Ridiculously so

If loyalty consists of “open borders” and Democrat lite, we can live without it. In fact, those are the main reasons that Trump won the opportunity to challenge Canckles.

The insiders are the ones without party loyalty and jumping ship. They made promises to support whichever of the 17 candidates became nominee; they are the disloyal ones.

Kinda like the way the Republican wing of the Uni-Party treats the electorate.

He signed the pledge. He didn’t violate it. Some other candidates have.

The party is a creature of the people who make it up, it doesn’t deserve “loyalty” as such the way a religious vow, marriage or even a country as a whole does. You may as well chew out Abe Lincoln for being a bad Whig.

Martinez is the one who picked the fight with Trump, and he’s not one to back down from a fight. He actually only gave her a light jab or two, which she deserved.

As for the Bushes, the he!! with all of them, they are the ones who created so much havoc and mess, not only in the party, but in the country as a whole with their open-borders, and endless wars.

Total BS -- this is the same line of crap we've been told the better part of a year, and the fact is, if this isn't just media shills working to build-a-meme, any such GOP 'insiders' should have thought of that when the shoe was on the other foot, not least because they've been making it clear, even post-clinching, that they won't unify behind the nominee.

The Republican Establishment has demanded loyalty for years, but failed to reciprocate in any manner, in so many ways and places up and down the length and breadth of the territory once known as “the United States of America”.

Just business, you understand. Nothing personal.

Hey, “loyalists”. New sheriff in town. Posse now forming.

Ryan needs to get the speech. Support the party nominee or millions will be spent to be sure that he doesn’t come back to Congress next year.
