You make some good points. Thank goodness that he’s fired Lwewandowski. I think that much of the trouble came from his advice of “letting Trump just be Trump.”

You may know that in his final meeting with Trump he had nothing to recommend those terrible two weeks that he had except to say that they could announce the recommendation for VP. That was in the same room with Ivanka,her husband, Jared Kushner (solid advisor), and Paul Manafort. Everyone apparently knew that this would undermine any drama for the convention. And “let Trump be Trump” has meant going without a teleprompter for probably four months more than advisable.

If you caught Trump on O’Reilly last night, he was MUCH better, self-contained, and humorous. He came across as thoughtful and deliberative, two characteristics that people hope to see from him.

Instead of announcing his VP choice, he was very warm to the idea of announcing a cabinet. That makes more sense too. That way he’d have a team.

His remark about needing to apologize to Pocohontas was great comedic timing and came across well.

No, “right now” means that Trump needed to make a course correction with the way he was approaching this year’s election. And that’s exactly what Ivanka, husband Jared, and Paul Manafort thought as well.

Trump, himself agreed, and said “right now” we need a course correction, so Corey, thanks for all the help but we’re going to try and win this election — a switch in style and tone, NOT POLICY. That’s what our conservative relatives have been looking for — not an excuse to vote Dem.

Don't normally watch O'Reilly anymore, but I did watch that. Yes, he was more reserved and presidential in his answers. Maybe he's learning...I hope so. I was a Cruz guy, but since he's our candidate and will vote for him, I pray he will start to elaborate on his simplistic talking points that gets him in trouble. Although I believe his straight talk has gotten him this far, I would say as his campaign manager:

1. Don't ever say Mexican again;
2. Replace the word "wall" with "a patrolled double fence", as did California. It reduced illegal immigration by some 90%;
3. Never ever again insult anyone for their looks;
4. Hit Hillary between the eyes with her history of lies and corruption. Use a list/chart;
5. Connect Hillary with Obama's foreign policies and how the US is no longer trusted. Many examples like Israel aligning with Russia;
6. Explain in detail how he will bring jobs/companies back. Show a chart where our industries have the highest over-head because of over-regulation, but insure workers they will be looked after. ;
7. Start the debate regarding free enterprise vs socialism (Hillary being a closet socialist). Venezuela would be a good start and work backwards from there;

I have more, but too many to mention. Best.

"BO had a unique opportunity, and could have been a racially transcendent president..."

Yup, the community organizer had the chance to build on our once current acceptance of all racial and ethnic groups. But no...

Letting Trump be Trump was a great strategy in the primaries. But next comes the general election in which the rats and the indies get to vote. Trump can not win with just republican voters.

Therefore a natural shift in strategy towards the general makes perfect sense. And in that regard Manafort is more experienced than Corey. 2 drivers are never a good idea for anything that needs movement. Therefore Corey had to go. That will prevent unnecessary internal turmoil and squabbling.

We senior voters remember the daily bs polls about how Reagan was going to lose big time.

Reminds us of the bs primary polls predicting that Trump was losing big time. Then he kicked butt in each primary vote!

Excellent advice. I agree on everything. I think he’s going to get more than “Let Trump be Trump” from Manafort and Trump’s two adult children. I understand that the son-in-law, Ivana’s husband is pretty smart. They want to move beyond the ad-lib pep rallies into a more serious phase. And Trump has said taht he whole heartedly agrees.
After Lewandowski left, Manafort didn’t wait around and began hiring some experienced professionals on the staff.
They are still vastly outnumbered here and Hillary’s got her team set and ready to go.
