SALT LAKE CITY - (KSTU via CNN) - Police in Utah have recruited an unlikely ally in the fight against child pornography.
The pooch named URL (pronounced Earl) is a black Lab trained for detecting electronic storage devices.
Affectionately dubbed "porn dog" by the department, URL operates by sniffing out chemicals used in storage media.
URL comes from the same trainer as the K-9 that helped arrest former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle.
"I think everyone was pretty skeptical. Really? A dog that can detect electronics?" said Lt. Lane Findlay of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. "He certainly has some unique abilities, and we're excited to have him."
URL will go to work with the FBI, Homeland Security and many other agencies.
He is one of nine certified electronic detection K9s in the country.
I was talking to a guy who had an exterminator over to his place that used a beagle to detect bedbugs.

There’s good money in bedbug dogs in Orange County, CA. Hotels hire them.

lol. I don’t know how many outbreaks there have been, if any, but I know that the big hotels surrounding Disneyland hire these dogs to make sure that their rooms stay free of bedbugs. Very bad publicity at some expensive hotels if that were to happen.
Makes it harder to fight the war on drugs.
But dogs seem to be born with the ability to sniff out...um...body lice...

Swordmaker, I was expecting an Apple product tie-in. Maybe you liked the name URL? Anyway, that black lab has very interesting eyes and expression on his face which makes me wonder if he has above normal sense of smell even for dogs? Or maybe the pouch was unhappy being posed on those hot rocks!?
No matter how many times I see that joke, it still gets me. And I have had dogs like meth lab before.
