No AK47 ?
Ouch. At the price of a decent quality gun, I haven't bought a single one. I don't think I could afford one a month.
380 isn't my favorite but I own 2 as they are perfect for concealed carry and plenty effective enough at "normal" self-defense distances (for one who knows how to shoot) with the Critical Defense rounds.
My wife carries a 9mm in her purse so she "outguns" me on a daily basis....
Back to the story - going with weapons that use the ammo readily available at Walmart isn't a bad idea, but stocking up on ammo for the weapons you have is a better idea.
No .308 ?
Shoot what’s popular and readily available - 9mm, .40, 5.56, 7.62, 12ga.
If the other shoe drops, there won’t be a Wal-Mart open.
In this state the National Instant Criminal Background Check System is the only paper work required for purchase by the state or federals.

Mike Adams ulterior motive for this article is to send a DFwM message to all the whacked out academics, students, homos/lesbos and muslims who re offended at his writings.
Or “The Gun Range Rule”. Go to the gun range. With full ear muffs go to the loudest guns on the range. Buy those. /s
As Bill Frady reminds us, it’s more important to be proficient with the one(s) you have than to be in the gun-a-month club.
The guy has way too many calibers. If just starting out, limit to 4 calibers only, and get several guns for each caliber. Once you have the basics covered in both ammo quantity and guns for each caliber, then start expanding your caliber selection.
For instance, 22lr guns are available in both rifle and pistol. Same for 38/357, 223/5.56, 300AAC, and 7.62X39.
Stay with one shotgun ammo (12 or 20, etc).
If I ever buy a gun or start a “collection”, this is what I would do. Buying 20 different calibers of ammo is silly, and the article doesn’t even mention 7.62X39, the most widely used caliber worldwide.
Thanks for sharing this information.
Bttt
I would add a quality .22 cal pellet rifle, you can’t beat the price of the ammo and quantity.
Never have I purchased a brand new gun for myself.
My dad gave me my grandpas Winchester lever action 30.30 serial number was 300,000ish. Teddy Roosevelt got the millionth one.
All the others I bought used from either gun stores or pawn shops. Never had one that disappointed me.
