Letter to My Pastor (he's been ripping on Trump lately)
5 Nov 2016 | 11th_VA

Dear Pastor,

I don't often write 'vent' emails but I can no longer be silent.

I'm tired of the church promoting leaders with questionable values and citing passages from their books for inspiration.

When we have a national leader that has confessed to adultery, ( he doesn't even deny the charge) how can we promote and reflect on anything he says?

Yes, he wants to build a strong nation with godly values, I get that, but he himself has such boorish values and questionable decision making skills I can't find it in me to follow anything he says.

And yet, you constantly quote from his book, what's it called ? The Psalms ?

Don't you know he had an affair with another man's wife, and then had her husband sent to the front lines of a questionable war to have him killed?

We don't need to hear from reprobates like that for inspiration - please find other leaders with more righteous values before citing passages they wrote.

Sincerely (tongue in cheek)

Please stop the ridiculous comparison. Chances are people stop reading half way in and they don’t get to the ‘punchline’.

Or follow a persecutor of Christians who had no Seminary Degree.

Don’t get me wrong. You’re trying to be clever and cute, perhaps, but it falls flat.

Your pastor clearly isn’t a Christian.

If this pastor is taking a stand in his churchin favor or against a candidate for president, he is in violation of the Johnson act, and his church should lose tax exemption. I do not favor the Johnson act and would like to aee it repealed or ruled unconstitutional, but, as it stands, it applies to liberals as well as conservatives.

LOL

Well done IMO! You hit that hypocritical judgmentalism right on the head.

I’ve met and worked with several “seminary” graduates.

Most of them don’t know the first thing about Scripture. No wonder a whole lot of Christians don’t either, given this sort of “leadership”.

I tried to explain islam versus Scripture to one guy. Didn’t get it at all - what excited him was “interfaith dialogue”.

Well, that sounds all nice and humanistic.

We have the Gospel based on Scripture - it does not bargain down to “commonality” with another religion. Reject it if one will, but we do not share commonality with anything else. We do not recognize mad mo as a “prophet” and certainly not superior to Christ.

We are fools for Christ; not some seminary (there’s been some good ones ought there). One of my professors, nice guy, got his Doctorate at Dallas Theological which is generally pretty conservative from what I’ve seen. I saw him on TV a few years ago; he’s pastoring a “multi-faith church”. Gotta say, I wasn’t surprised after sitting in class. Again, decent guy. But I don’t think he was solidly-rooted in Scripture (though he had committed much of it to memory).

One of my others had a doctorate from Yale. I converted his thinking a bit, he admitted to me. Nonetheless, I still learned a bit from the two classes, when one knew what to discard afterwards.

Sorry, I don’t know the person as I don’t know much of the Bible, but very good!

Your pastor needs a visit from Sheriff Clarke.

I don’t go to church to hear who I should vote for. I go to hear the fact that I am a sinner and how to be reconciled with God.

Once that happens I will know who to vote for.

The Bible is full of examples of God using flawed men to accomplish his plan.

My issue with him, a few weeks back, was he spoke about all the women who accused Trump of whatever - he kinda sold it as truth, to make a point of how bad a state we were in, where as, I thought he should have used another example that was proven - these charges are only ‘he said she said’

Tell him in front of the parish that he’s way out of line and backing an enemy of America and you’re going pastor shopping and recommend to the rest of the faithful that they do the same.

THIS IS NOT NEWS AND YOUR VANITY, LIKE ALL THE OTHERS MISPOSTED, ISN'T EVEN WORTH READING !

And Trump hasn't even admitted to committing adultery, nor has he been in a position to even start a war!

Sure I get it, but you aren't as clever as you imagine yourself to be.

Do you really get it? It's not about Trump, it's about King David ....

Of course “I get it”; however, you are using David as a device to promote Trump. Apples and oranges and you need to learn the RULES here, since you just don’t “get it” at all!

That was my original reaction, but after much thought I thought I'd write a more 'parabolic' letter ... God is soverign in this whole election and I'll accept the outcome...
