Journalists flatly admitted they completely failed to understand the 2016 presidential election following Republican nominee Donald Trump’s win Tuesday.
“To put it bluntly, the media missed the story,” Margaret Sullivan wrote in The Washington Post.
“We were all wrong,” Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman wrote in Politico’s Playbook newsletter. “That seems obvious, right? But we were more than wrong. We were laughably oblivious. The entire Washington political-media complex completely missed the mark. Not by inches or feet, but by miles.”

They weren’t wrong about forecasting the election because they were not attempting to do so. As journalists, they saw their job as helping to elect Hillary. They weren’t wrong. They simply failed.
The sleeping giant woke.
Trump keep telling them at every rally how dishonest they were being.

They didn’t “miss” the story. They ardently REFUSED to listen to it. They sat on their butts in their comfy network chairs and news rooms behind their keyboards and listened to each other, their comrades, the DNC and the Clinton Campaign and believed all the lies and inbred thinking.
NONE of them got out to drive-by America and got any semblance of a pulse of the abject disgust it has for that cesspool they call our government.
They still don’t get it. It’s not only that they missed the story. It is that they are active Rat collaborators. It is that they are propagandists and not reporters or journalists. They do not report facts and true events, they manipulate and manufacture stories to push their personal beliefs.
The media was too busy constantly bashing Trump to pay attention to anything else. They think that 90% of America thinks the same warped way as they do, but in reality it’s closer to 25%.
Well, “wrong” sounds better than “willful stooges”.

The story is: The Media is bigoted, dismissive and contemptuous of people and ideas disagreeable to it.
I think they also misunderestimated how wise Donald’s campaign was.
He hit exactly what he needed to hit, exactly as hard as it needed, and no more, so as not to cause excessive alarm and vitiate his own goal. Art of the Deal, writ large. Of course God was moving him, I believe that is obvious from watching the drama play out.
So Donald is now a credible figure, eh, dear lie-soaked lefties?
Baloney.
The American Press seeks to convince instead of inform.
They just couldn’t stop trying to convince instead of inform.
They stuck to their guns and fought to convince us to vote Democrat right up to the end.
They don’t even try to inform anymore.
It is the natural hubris of the Liberal.
They just know better than everyone else.
Not wrong, they flat out lied to throw the election. I remember the secret meetings with pressitudes at the WH during His second term! That is why I stopped watching Faux News and got rid of cable.
And so this can be put to good use, because it is the Lord writing this story. What is cynicism to you is glory, hallelujah to me.
The media will kiss up to Donald, basically. Do we reject the cake because it does not have our favorite cherry on top? Sometimes our instinctive grudges need to be recognized as something from beneath heaven, rather than from heaven.
Like Bernie Goldberg said in his book “Bias”. They all think exactly the same, so they think they’re in the middle.
Trump defeated all of them and they are still clueless.
The entire media was against him.
The Democrats were against him.
The RINO establishment GOP were against him.
Soros and his money was against him.
They spent a half a billion dollars in ads telling everyone how bad he was.
There was STILL probably massive voter fraud...
But there was overwhelming support that trumped (get it?) all that.
Imagine what the totals would have been in a fair and just election.
You are correct - they still don’t get it. Are the still arguing this election was all about race?
If anything the lies BLEW UP in their face. Donald’s supporters treated this as not an automatic cake walk. “We’re Number 2. We try harder.” Our dear lefty journalists don’t even know how to do an effective psy-op, which would have been to make Donald’s position look cushy.
