I don’t get a kick out of seeing this, because I know it could have ended much worse.

This guy should know better than almost anyone else why you don’t do this. As a Lieutenant, I’m sure he has helped scrape up folks off the street after these sorts of accidents.

Thank God that didn’t happen here.

He endangered others. He endangered himself. He exposed his career to review. He will have to deal with the charges and the penalties.

So he, his family, and everyone that knows them will to a certain degree be affected by this.

What a terrible lapse in judgement.

Loss of job. This is a career ender in the military, no reason it shouldn’t be so here. Same thing for negligent discharge; no excuses. You are supposed to be a professional, clearly you aren’t.

Brian is a dumbass. The arresting officer did the RIGHT thing. Administrative leave? He’s still getting off easy.

My beef with this LT is not just the DUI but his attitude toward the guy doing his job. Agreed?

I totally agree with the arresting officer. How DARE a cop put a fellow cop through this! By drinking and driving and then asking for a break! A two-fer that should piss ANY cop off!

Well he didn’t seem to be that intoxicated, the 911 calls about reckless driving could have been just that. I would like to hear a follow up if he blew or if he refused to blow. IMHO, a good lawyer could get the guy off if no blow. Granted, a no blow would mean loss of driving privilege for probably a year even if no conviction.

The LT expects to get off...because that IS the norm.

If he respected the arresting officer for doing his job my opinion of him may be higher.

That’s why so many people hate them. It is a problem that is easily fixed.

That’s true, but, the arresting officer did have a slight attitude also. My point is, was he really drunk beyond able to drive safely or was he called in on because of speeding. Most off duty cops speed anyway. One thing about body cameras, they give very little leeway for an officer to use their own judgement. Without the camera, the conversation may have been a bit different.

I like the guy in the comments bitching about another officer doing this to him because he “only” blew a .14. Lost his job. LOL. I read that this guy had a BAC of .27, that’s professional drunk level.

The cops I grew up with had absolutely NO tolerance for this. You screw up, you lose. He should have called someone for a ride home. The position he put that patrolman in was unforgivable.

He is drunk, so I don’t hold him to attitude too much, but if he is drunk enough for his attitude to be altered, he is too drunk to drive.

It is the double standards of many of them around here which pisses people off.. They speed in their vehicles, they drink and drive, and yes I have seen it first hand, they illegally park, they basically break the laws, and yet we go over 5 miles per hour and they pull us !!!
